Velvet Ribbon

Hello, I was planning to make a basic outfit (long sleeve t-shirt and denim pants) in February and I managed to finish the long sleeve t-shirt on time. I posted the detail on my IG,  here is the link  in case you are interested to see it.  After waiting for almost one and a half months, I finally finished the denim pants. Too bad that the weather is getting hot, so I will wear them in cooler weather. Both the long sleeve t-shirt and denim pants were my entry to "Fit February"  #magamsewalong  challenge on Instagram hosted by Sue, Suzy and Sheila. I'm happy I finally finished the outfit that fit my daily life. Here is the fabric I used for the denim pants, a medium-weight denim fabric that I bought during my trip to Bangkok in 2018, I bought 3 meters and still have leftover enough to make a skirt. Also, I used green cotton scrap for the pocket bags. The rest of the materials, zipper, snap fastener, fastener and threads were from my stash. ...

I'm glad that I finally finished another project from last month, a silk blouse with a side knot Burdastyle pattern 12/2019 size 38. My plan was to make it for my entry to magamsewalong "December Dreaming" challenge on Instagram but life was so busy and I couldn't make it on time.  For the fabric, I used my dream fabric from stash, floral silk crepe de chine. I bought it in the local shop a while ago and I really love the print.  The sewing progress was difficult but I managed to finish it after many errors, basting and pinning (my pattern instruction was in the German language, no time to translate, just sew the blouse with my self-taught).  Firstly I was working on the front pieces and created them into a side knot. Hello, I'm back after a long break from blogging and I'd love to share the garments I sewed for three months (August - October). I managed to sew eleven garments for everyday wear, I used stash fabrics and leftover scraps and also, some of these garments were my entry to #magamsewalong and #2019makenine challenges in Instagram.

I made these activewear vest top and crop top since the beginning of the month and wore them sometimes for exercise (yoga) at home. These garments are my entry for "Jazz Up July"  #magamsewalong  hosted by  @suestoney ,   @sewing_in_spain  and  @hportemanteu For the fabrics, I used blue and black medium weight jersey knits from old and new stashes. The fabric suggestion from the pattern is four-way stretch fabric but I only have medium weight and I think it's fine. And for the pattern, I used "Sew Your Own Activewear" book by  Melissa Fehr . Both vest top and crop top are based on close-fitting top block pattern, I used size XS with size L for the waistline and M for the hips. Firstly I made a basic tank top and then I worked on the vest top and crop top. All modifications are written with step by step and pictures. I love this book and planning to make more garments (jacket, leggings and tops).

Hi fellow sewists, here is my first garment of 2019! A jersey shirt based on  Burdastyle Draped Jersey Shirt 09/2018 . This shirt is my entry to January's  #magamsewalong  with theme "Joy" and also I've chosen my theme of the year "stashbusting". So, this month I chose a bright pink jersey fabric from stash and pink is a happy colour to me 😊

Hi fellow sewists, I mentioned in my  Instagram post  two weeks ago that I finished the boucle jacket but I postponed my blog post because I wanted to make a new high neck top to wear with it as the model wearing in the picture below. Both garments are my entry to  #magamsewalong  October and November "Seasonal Stashbuster" hosted by  Sarah Liz . The boucle and brown colour silk satin lining fabrics were inside stash for ages and I bought the grey knit jersey last year.

Hello fellow sewists, I made one wearable muslin and three dresses based on  Burdastyle Bow Back Maxi dress 129 - 11/2013  size 36 last month. And I'm glad that I wore the three dresses during my trip to Bangkok in the beginning of this month. They were perfect to wear in hot weather because I used cotton fabrics and the style was little bit loose and cosy 💕

Hello fellow sewists, I was checking my last post here in the blog and realised that I didn't make update for more than one and half months. I was busy with a lot of things but still making stuff/garments and most of them I published in  my Instagram . As things are back to normal this month and kid is back to school, I have a little free time to write a post and reading your posts too 😍 My latest makes are kimono top and slim pants, both are my entry to  #magamsewalong  hosted by lovely  Sarah Liz . This outfit is my August garment, I'm late but better late than never 😊

This dress is my entry to #magamsewalong challenge in Instagram this month hosted by Sarah Liz . I am not sure if I followed July's theme, but I made a dress that I need at the moment 😊 I'm glad that finished just before the end of the month and wore it yesterday on our visit to Tokyo Disneyland. Beside this dress, I also made two more dresses to wear during summer holiday and I'd love to share with you in later post.

I was searching for the right pattern for my Liberty cotton tana lawn that I bought in London last year and happy I found  Burdastyle raglan sleeve chiffon dress 08/2014 . I think that my lightweight fabric is close enough to the original fabric suggestion. The original dress pattern has gathered cap sleeve, scoop neckline, pin-tucked front, hidden pockets and mini length. But in mine, I did the pin-tuck at the back too, omitted the hidden pockets because they look bulky on my final dress and I lengthen the dress to knee length.  Also, I omitted the body lining as the original pattern because my fabric wasn't transparent.

Hello friends, I made two cotton dresses recently based on Japanese sewing book that DH brought to me from Japan. The book name is Simple Adult Clothes (translated from Japanese) and I used pattern number 2, a simple v-neck kimono tunic that I lengthen the pattern into a dress.  As I am not sure about the sizing, I decided to make the first dress as wearable muslin in white and purple floral print in size M. I found out that the dress was too roomy for my liking, so I have to reduce 6 cm in both sides from under arm down to the hem. For the v-neckline, I was following the original pattern instruction to use binding from the same fabric but it doesn't work for me. So, I changed to knit ribbing binding in white, sew it around the v-neckline and top stitched with twin needle. For the seam allowance, I used 1.5 cm in all edges and 3 cm for sleeve and hem allowances.

I made a bomber jacket last month and this is my second version from  Burdastyle Double Button Bomber Jacket 04/2017  size 36. I used knit fabric in Dahlia print and lightweight knit in brown colour for the lining. The original pattern doesn't include the lining but I decided to go with it for more professional look. This dress was made last month for my entry to "Mad March - make a dress"  #magamsewalong  hosted by Sarah Liz Sew Style . After thinking and selecting the fabric and pattern, I decided to try  Diana dress S1034 from my image pattern . Diana dress has nice pleats at the front neckline, long sleeves and simple shape of shift dress but sadly I didn't like the final pleats on me after I tried the muslin (I posted the picture on  My Instagram ). And instead of making one more muslin and solve the pleat issues, I changed the pattern. I chose another pattern from My Image, Marua Tunic dress S1033 size 36. The original pattern of Marua has asymmetrical hemline and finished the neckline with facing but I modified it to my liking, regular hemline and finished neckline with a band.

I made three selfish garments last months and all of them are my entry for  #magamsewalong  hosted by lovely  Sarah Liz Sew Style  The two garments (colour block turtleneck t-shirt and jeans pants) finished on time but the pink t-shirt in the picture above finished two days ago. Luckily that the weather is getting cold again, so I can wear them. I wore the pink t-shirt with jeans pants yesterday and wearing the colour block turtleneck today. Also, the scarf was made by me and I think it goes really nice with the pink t-shirt. I was lucky to have enough amount of scrap plum colour knit in my stash.

Hello fellow sewists, I made a new coat and this is my first post of the year after a long absence. But before I write more, I want to wish you a Happy New Year, may 2018 be filled with happiness, love, health, prosperity and many sewing time to come. I have been sewing and knitting lately but no blog post, I was thinking to make one post about all my makes but then I gave up due busy time. But you can see all the photos on  my Instagram  if you are interested. About the coat, this garment is my entry for  #magamsewalong  January with the theme "Join In". To fit on the theme, I decided to make a garment that I really need at the moment and using stash fabric instead of buy the new one. But unluckily I don't have matching colour silk for the lining. I have black, three different blues, grey and white but no purple 😥 So I went to buy 4 yards of deep purple silk in the local shop that's enough to make two garments.

Hello everyone, I made a new outfit and these garments are my entry for  #magamsewalong  October and November. My plan for October Original was a self-drafted skirt and white blouse in the picture below, the skirt turned out fine but I'd love to make adjustment next time. So, I will post the skirt detail separately later. For November Needs, I was planning to make jeans and bought two pieces of jeans fabrics in dark blue and black. I decided to sew the blue colour first as wearable muslin but in the end I like the result and I am in the middle of finishing the black one but no time to complete this month, so I will continue next month. Coincidentally the jeans and white blouse are lovely match, so I just wear it together 😁 Patterns: I modified both blouse and pants patterns to my liking  Burdastyle Shirt Blouse 03/2013  size 36  and  Burdastyle Straight Pants 10/2013  size 36.

Hello everyone, I am back after my last post in 31 August with two new me-made shirt blouses that I made to participate  #magamsewalong  September with theme "Shirty September" hosted by lovely  @sarahlizsewstyle . I decided not to publish the blog post for Artwear August dress and jump to Shirty September instead. Also, I had some garments to publish but no time and energy for all of them. Hello, I managed to finish #magamsewalong June dress with theme "Seasonal Stashbuster" by the end of the month, but only today I have time to write a blog post. I like the pattern since the day I found it about three years ago, but somehow I didn't have a chance to make it. I was lucky to found the Simplicity magazine Autumn 2014 during our visit to Portugal, the magazine is in Spanish but I can follow the pictures and tutorials easily. I also saw other patterns such as tunic and jacket that I want to make in the future.

Hello everyone, So happy I finished my late #magamsewalong "Sew New Season" June dress, it supposed to finish last month but I couldn't because distracted with other urgent garments, holiday and other things. Besides, this dress was little bit complicated to work with, so I prefer to finish it slowly. This dress has a special detail at the neckline yoke, straight-line cut, front darts, raglan sleeves and inseam pockets. I had a big crush on this pattern as soon as I saw the magazine, the neckline detail is so pretty and the rest of the dress is so simple and airy. Perfect to wear in hot summer day 😍
