Velvet Ribbon

Hello.. I was planning to make this shirt dress for 13th April  Share In Style  with the topic "Your Own Style". But for some reason I only finished yesterday. This dress has short sleeves, button down, knee length and easy to wear with or without belt. Pattern: Based on BurdaStyle pattern Shirt Blouse 03/2013 size 36. To make a dress out of a shirt pattern, I lengthen the shirt hem until my knee. I also cut the sleeves length, from 3/4 sleeves to a short sleeves 16 cm long. Added 1.5 cm seam allowances in all edges and 3 cm hem allowance. Materials: 2 yards of printed rayon, bias tape, 10 small black buttons, fusible interfacing for the collar and thread Beside all the pattern modification above, I also added 4 cm in the center back at the neckline. Hello.. I refashioned husband's button down shirt to join 30 March - Share In Style with the theme cowgirl inspiration. And here is my final outfit, square shirt - simple scarf and a hat borrowed from husband :) Well, the picture above is just a costume. I am not dressing up like this in my everyday life. I will wear the shirt only with skinny pants. I will put the scarf inside closet and hang back the hat in my husband working room :) I had this shirt for some months inside my stash box together with other garments that I want to refashion. The shirt is size L in orange with black and dark purple stripes. I tried it and it was very long in the sleeves and big in the body. So, I reduced them but without change in the front and collar. Also, I decided to make short sleeves finished with bands and I sew one more button under the original one for more girly look. The sewing process was fun and fast. Hello.. I made this sweatshirt especially to participate in  Share In Style . But I am late again.. :( I supposed to publish it on Monday but I was so busy. Share In Style theme for 16th March was "yellow" and I immediately think about my yellow knit fabric inside my stash that waiting for me to sew. After looking for the right garment and pattern, I decided to make a basic wear which I need more to fill my wardrobe. And for the pattern, I decided to use BurdaStyle but I skip the color block because I couldn't find the right fabric combination. Pattern : BurdaStyle Boatneck Sweatshirt 09/2014#114a   size 34. I have to grade down the pattern to size 34 because the minimum size of original pattern is 36. With the size of sleeve bands 17 cm length x 12  cm width - the final result 6 cm width of sleeve bands. Hello, The weather is getting better here in Macau, which is a good sign that spring is coming :) I like spring, I miss wearing a dress with cardigan over it, wearing sandals or open shoes and paint my toe nails :) I want to say goodbye to wool/heavy fabrics and starting to sew lighter garments. I already started to put away wool and heavy fabrics and took out lighter fabrics from stash. Also, I starting draw some flat sketches and looking for the right patterns for them. Hello.. I am joining Share In Style hosted by Rosy - Sewingadicta and  Mis Papelicos . The topic for February 16th was Japanese Inspiration, I am already thinking about Mori girl style that is in the list of modern Japanese street style. Mori means forest in Japanese, which the style concept is natural and earthly. Well, I decided to use my boiled wool in green earthy color from stash and sew a lovely poncho based on BurdaStyle pattern. After all, I am happy with how it turned out and it was fast and easy to make it. I am done in less than two hours.
