Hi there, I refashioned my old rtw bathing cover-up into a cuter swimsuit cover-up and I love the final result. The idea came out on the day I was packing my suitcase, I saw a piece of fabric (rtw bathing cover-up I bought in Bali two years ago) and I told myself I should refashion it into a dress, something loose and fast to sew. I hurried up and started to sew because the flight will be in the next day and I was glad that I managed to finish it on time. I didn't know why, but I always sew something in the last minute instead of making a proper plan 😄 The sewing process started by folding the fabric and then folding it one more time. After that, I followed the measurements below and cut the fabric. Here is the look of my fabric after I cut the neckline and for the neckband, I cut the leftover fabric 5 cm wide, I used all the length left from the fabric and trimmed the excess. I sewed the ends of the neckband together and then pinned the neckband and neckline right sides together....

Hi there, welcome back 🌸 I refashioned my old scarf into a cozy tunic and love how it turned out. I planned to do this many months ago and glad I finally did it.  This tunic can be worn as a layer or as it is. It is so comfy and warm, perfect for the cooler weather we are having now.  The material of my scarf is a wool blend in a lovely print. I got it from a friend 15 years ago. The refashioning process was easy and fast, I started with making the neckline. Cut the length and use the leftover fabric for the neckband. I pinned and sewed the neckband to the neckline. And here is the look of the neckline on the wrong side. I got a little problem, the neckline was gaping and I reduced both sides by adding darts in both sides at the shoulder lines 0.50". And happy it worked, it fit nicely after adding the darts. After that, I measured 15'' from the hemline up to the armhole, pinned and sewed both sides. I...

Hello friends, I finished a midi dress for my entry to #magamsewalong challenge on Instagram. This month's theme is Jumble July and I decided to make a patchwork dress using my old dresses and scrap fabrics. For the pattern, I used my self-drafted slip dress pattern. I added darts (front and back) and lengthen the dress until the middle of my knee. Also, I made the straps a little bigger than my previous slip dress. The progress started with drafting the pattern pieces and cut the old dresses, rtw top and scrap fabrics into a square shape. And then stitched them together until formed a big piece of patchwork fabric, as shown in the pictures below. After that, I cut the fabric and the lining as well. The lining fabric was soft white cotton that I bought recently in the local shop. I sewed the darts, sewed the facings to the linings and sewed the raw edges using an overlocker machine. Hi friends, I hope you are well. I was participating Me-Made-May 2021 and this year is my ninth year of participating, it was a fabulous and fun challenge. I completed the challenge and followed my pledge, wearing only me-made garments and refashioned during the whole month of May.  The picture above is the collage of the garments I wore last month. Most of them are old makes except the denim a-line skirt and a purple t-shirt that I made  in April , a pink cotton dress that I made  in the middle of May and two t-shirts in aqua blue and white I made recently.  Also, I managed to mend my two old dresses, skirt and refashioned my RTW long rectangle scarf into another scarf. Glad I did, they fit me better now.  Besides had fun and met like-minded people, I learned more about sewing and got some inspiration for future projects.
