Me Made May 2022 Day 15 - 24

Hi all, May was a great month for home sewists like me because of Me Made May 2022 and I decided to continue to show you what I was wearing during the challenge. Today's post is the recap for day 15-24 and as usual, I was wearing my basic garments. Nothing fancy but they are wearable, easy and suitable for my daily life.  Day 15. I was enjoying our weekend walk in a me-made floral silk blouse, Burdastyle pattern 07/2018, and a self-drafted skirt. I made the blouse last year and here is a  link  for more detail. Day 16. The temperature was drop and little rain. I wore a gingham shirt, pattern modified from Faitmain dress pattern -  detail here  and me-made denim pants that I sewed recently, pattern modified from Burdastyle trousers pattern 10/2013 -  detail here . Day 17. I was wearing another me-made outfit. A white shirt, pattern modified from Faitmain dress pattern, hand-knitted blue vest (my own pattern), and old denim...

Me Made May 2022 Day 1 To 7

Hello, I'm participating Me Made May challenge again this year and this is my 10 year of participating. Time really flies too fast. I still remember my first MMMay in 2013 and I posted my daily outfit on Flickr. I found many International sewing friends during the challenge and I'm glad we continue connecting on the blog and on Instagram until today.  Me Made May challenge is hosted by  Zoe Edwards @sozoblog  and is a wardrobe challenge to help us to improve our relationship with our handmade items, more details are on Zoe's blog  link here .  I wear my handmade clothes every day with very little rtw, so I'm not going to find any difficulty with what should I wear. Most of my garments are old makes, they are still in good condition but some are too loose or too tight and I want to fix those that I can.  Well, here is my pledge for Me Made May 2022, I Hana of @velvetribbon_sews , pledge to wear me-made clothes and refashioned every day du...

Flax Pullover

I finally finished my Flax Pullover after one year of working on it. I'm glad and happy with the final result, the fit is good, loose, and comfy. I started this pullover on January 21 last year, I used acrylic and rayon blend yarn from the local shop. At first, I wasn't sure about the yarn because I didn't really like acrylic but the color is so pretty, so I bought the pack (8 balls of yarns). For the pattern, I used a free pattern from Tin Can Knits  link here , and my plan was to make the green pullover version the one that the model is wearing in the picture below.  I used size ML because I wanted a little loose and made the sleeves plain using stockinette stitch only. My progress was very slow, I was knitting a few rows in my free time especially at night after dinner or after I put my son to the bed.  The instructions were easy to follow and I was enjoying the progress, also I was lucky I found a Youtube channel that explain m...

Polka Dot Top With Ruffle Peplum

I made a polka dot dress with an a-line skirt last month but it didn't turn out as my plan, so I decided to refashion it into a top with a ruffle peplum. Firstly, I removed the zipper and the skirt. I used the bodices, cut the skirt fabric for the ruffle peplum and kept the rest of the fabric for future make.  For the pattern, I used my self-drafted tank dress with the addition of darts. I made two tank dresses before, the first  and  the second  versions in case you wanted to see them.  The fabric I used: cotton viscose polka dot from the local shop. The collage below was the process of sewing the front bodice. I did the same for the back bodice except inserted the rings to connect the ties later. After I cut the pieces for the ruffle peplum, I gathered it using big stitches with my sewing machine, pulled the thread and attached the fabric to the bodice right sides together. And then, sewed the raw edges using an overlocker m...

Wrap Top

Hello friends, I finally finished my garment for #sewyourwradrobebasics June challenge hosted by @SeaOf Teal . The theme was ''Jersey'' and I was planning to make a wrap dress using the knit jersey fabric in purple from my stash. For me, a wrap dress is convenient and practical, I will just put the dress in, no zipper or button. I will wear this dress with flat shoes when doing errands and little high heels when going out for lunch/dinner.  But sadly, I didn't like the look of the dress on me. I think the problem was my fabric choice, too soft, too stretchy and lightweight. I will look for better fabric with medium-weight and less stretchy, so I can make this pattern again because it's a good pattern. Especially after my hard work to match the two patterns together, Burdastyle Wrap Dress 05/2019 size 38  and Fait Main Wrap Dress - May 2019 size 38. I love Burdastyle wrap dress pattern, I made the first version before and it fits me nicely...
