DIY Sleeveless Dress

I made a simple sleeveless dress last week using a printed rayon fabric that I repurchased a few months ago from the local shop. I love rayon, it drapes nicely and is perfect to wear in summer. For the pattern, I used a self-drafted sleeveless dress based on my basic dress slopers. The design of the dress is so simple, with a round neckline with a little lower back, sleeveless, no darts and knee length. I also lowered the armhole by 2 cm and made the shoulder thinner by 2 cm to make the dress more comfy and airy. Summer in my place is so hot and humid, and this comfy dress is perfect to wear. After I cut all the pieces, I fused the facings with fusible interfacing. The sewing process was started by pinning the front-facing and the front dress's right sides together, marked 8 cm in the upper armholes to leave the area without stitching. Stitched the rest of the armholes and neckline and then, turned the facing to the inner dress. ...

Summer Dresses, August 2023

As I mentioned before, here are two additional dresses that I designed to wear during my holiday. Both dresses were inspired by a previous self-drafted dress I made last year, which featured a ruffle yoke. You can see the original dress on my Instagram,  link here .  For the printed red dress, I skipped the ruffled yoke and the polka dot dress was the same as my first version. Also, I changed the elastic waistband into a waist tie and I like it more because it's easier to adjust, finished with the knot at the center back. This red dress was transparent, so I had to wear a slip dress underneath. The dress was comfortable to wear and perfect for the holiday. I wore it from breakfast, as a swimsuit cover and lunch.  For the fabric, I used printed cotton gauze that I bought last month in the local shop. It was the last 1.75 yards from the bolt and the shop gave me a better price. The sewing process was fast because I worked on this pattern before, it s...

Sew Merry May, Tunic Dress

Hello, I finished MAGAM sew along  May dress with theme "Sew Merry May" in the middle of the month and so glad that I recovered the dress and it turned out so good. You can see how happy I was, wearing me-made dress for mmmay day 17. The print truly made me happy and the black piping match perfectly with yellow 😊

Polka dot Dress with Ruffle Shoulder

Hello, We are having crazy weather lately, from hot humid, foggy to cold. And not enough dealing with that, I got sick with cough allergies for some weeks 😢 But luckily I still sew some small garments for my son and finished this polka dot dress. This dress is my first based on Casual Sweet Clothes - Favourite Pieces For Everyday  sewing book by Noriko Sasahara that I bought during my visit to Singapore in October last year. I also bought some fabrics, patterns and Burdastyle magazine, you can find them in my old IG post,  here . Material needed :

Batik Dress #5

Hello, I finished the dress for my April stash "make a garment a month" . The fabric is one of my oldest stash and it is a very special batik from my country produced by Batik Keris, I am not sure which type, I bought it just because of the print :) After so much thinking of the right pattern, I decided to use BurdaStyle pattern from 08/2014 #106A  size 36. The dress is sleeveless, seamed in between a natural and drop waist for structure and hip pockets, just perfect for hot summer weather. Actually, the pattern suggest to use scuba knit or high tech fabric but I went with cotton. And as I used cotton, I added 2 cm in the both sides until the waist and 3 cm in both sides of the hips. And then I drew new facings for front and back. I also added the dress length 3 cm - just right in my knee with 2.5 cm hem allowance and 1.5 seam allowance in all edges. The sewing process was enjoyable, I decided to hand-sewn the armhole facing to get prettier look - in my m...

Sleeveless Birdy Dress

Hello... I decided to make this dress the day before my visit to Hongkong. It was an easy and fast dress to make, I finished it in five hours :) This dress was inspired by my refashion dress . It has bust darts and back darts, round front neckline and not so deep V back neckline, sleeveless, knee length, three pleats in the front skirt and two pleats in the back skirt and finished the neckline and armholes with bias tape. Here is my final dress that I wore in Wednesday for mmmay'15 day 20 . Husband snapped it in one of the fabric shops in Western Market, Sheung Wan - Hongkong. I will explain more about the dress detail in the below post and also want to share my visit to the fabric store :) Pattern And Modification: This is my second dress based on Built By Wendy Book - Dirndl Dress pattern size 34, you can read my first version ~here~ . Materials: I bought 3 yards of navy polycotton fabric with birdy prints in Lisbon-Portugal l...
