Velvet Ribbon

Hello everyone.. I have been away from this blog for a month. I was super busy during summer holidays but in the end I relaxed for ten days in Bangkok with my family. Enjoyed the city, spicy foods and celebrated two birthdays - my dear husband and my younger son :) I managed to make two simple dresses, one quilted tote bag, pouches and two kimono tops for swimsuits cover before I left home. But for today I will show you the dresses and the tote, the kimonos will be posting in the later post. Now, let me start from my first dress, I called Elastic Waist Dress. I used 2 yards of printed chiffon in grey and black from stash. Hello... I was planning to make this dress for Magam June but I couldn't finish it on time. So, instead of planning another garment for July, I just continue working on this dress :) And I was lucky that July theme is "Sew Bookish", exactly like what I have been doing :) This dress is my third versions of Built By Wendy Dirndl Dress with modification. Hello... I decided to make this dress the day before my visit to Hongkong. It was an easy and fast dress to make, I finished it in five hours :) This dress was inspired by my refashion dress . It has bust darts and back darts, round front neckline and not so deep V back neckline, sleeveless, knee length, three pleats in the front skirt and two pleats in the back skirt and finished the neckline and armholes with bias tape. Here is my final dress that I wore in Wednesday for mmmay'15 day 20 . Husband snapped it in one of the fabric shops in Western Market, Sheung Wan - Hongkong. Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my last post :) And also a warm welcome to my three new followers on Bloglovin'. I finally finished my basic sleeveless top :) I cut the fabric many weeks ago but only yesterday I managed to finish it. This top is my second version of boatneck top based on Built by Wendy book - the shift dress pattern. You can see my first top here, hi-low top. This time I didn't want a hi-low style, so I just follow the original pattern. For the fabric, I used the leftover polka dots silk satin from the lining of my double breasted cape. I think the fabric is not the best to wear in the hot summer day but the polka dots print makes me want to sew it so badly :) I think is fine to wear it at home but not for outside.        I am very excited to announced the last project for palette challenge ss 2012 . I called the dress ''jamoo''. This is the second batik dress that I made, the fabric is very famous madura batik from east java - Indonesia. I bought two pairs of batik when I visited my hometown many months ago.
