Velvet Ribbon

I have been planning to make a casual jacket since last year and I'm glad I finally made it. I love the final result, easy to wear and comfortable. Spring is finally here and this jacket is perfect to wear. For the pattern, I used Burdastyle jacket 01/2023, my dear SIL gave me the magazine pattern and I was thrilled, so many lovely patterns that I'd love to make.  The original jacket was using wool fabric with the lining but I used double-knit fabric and facings. Also, the jacket has in-seam pockets and is finished with a front zipper. Simple design which I really love. The sewing progress was easier than I thought, so I will be making the original version with the wool fabric and fully lining later to wear in the winter.    Sewing the in-seam pockets was a little trickier, I removed and sewed them again twice until I get right. I finally finished my light jacket after almost a month working on it. This jacket supposed to be my entry to  #sewyourwardrobebasics  a sewing challenge on Instagram last month but I couldn't make it on time due to lack of sewing time and bad planning. Anyway, better late than never and I'm glad to have this type of jacket in my wardrobe 😊 Jacket pattern: Budastyle unlined jacket 07/2008 size 38, I made full arm adjustment, skip the belt loops, finished the seam and hem allowances with Hongkong seams method and sewed the buttons and buttonholes. For the fabric, I used a cotton blend from stash, bought two years ago during our trip to Tokyo and I made the bias tape from my dress that I don't wear anymore. For the buttons, I reused my husband's suit buttons and glad they were matched.

I made a bomber jacket last month and this is my second version from  Burdastyle Double Button Bomber Jacket 04/2017  size 36. I used knit fabric in Dahlia print and lightweight knit in brown colour for the lining. The original pattern doesn't include the lining but I decided to go with it for more professional look.  Hello.. I finished my wool jacket and happy with how it turned out :) I like the simple style that is perfect for everyday wear.  This jacket is based on BurdaStyle pattern 10/2013#106 with modifications, I lengthen the jacket until the middle of my thigh, I added self cover buttons and changed the original pockets to in-seam pockets.   I mentioned on my last post about my MAGAM plan, I made this jacket to test the pattern. I didn't make muslin, so I just sew the jacket as it is. After the jacket done (without lining), I tried it and found out that the shoulder was a little bit big, the sleeve length was too long and the jacket bottom was too big. So, I have to adjust the jacket.    Overall, I really like the result of this jacket. Hello everyone... I am late for posting my November garment for MAGAM challenge . As usual I was busy with some stuff and then I went out for mini vacation to Bangkok - Thailand with my family. So, only today I manage to updating the blog :) Actually, I finished the jacket on time. I wore it two times and I love it. The jacket is so comfortable and easy to wear with anything. The style is just perfect for my taste - not too boxy and not too tight. Too bad that in the pictures you can not see the details of the jacket because the color is black. But trust me, this jacket is really cute. And even cuter because I used vintage buttons :) Also, I chose the linen fabric because I want a light jacket that is perfect to wear in not so cold weather.
