Velvet Ribbon

Hello dear readers, I was checking my wardrobe and found out it lacked a simple top to wear daily. So, I decided to make one last month in a yellow batik fabric  detail here on my IG  (in case you are interested to see it). Apparently, one top wasn't enough and I made another in floral cotton fabric last week.  I wore the floral top yesterday for Sunday out with my family, I paired it with me-made denim pants. I love the top, comfortable and easy to wear.  The floral cotton fabric was from my stash and I still have leftover to make another top.    For the pattern, I used my self-drafted basic v-neck top. It has a side front dart, short sleeve and finished neckline with a neck facing with a back button closure.  After I cut the fabric, I sewed the top according to the usual manner and it was easy and fast. Here is the last garment I made last month, a wrap-style swimsuit made from lycra fabric from my stash. I made two similar swimsuits before and I was happy with the fit. So, I was okay with the process and was sure it would turn out as well as the previous ones.  The process took me two days, just right before our holiday. And I immediately packed it as soon as it finished.  I love this wrap swimsuit, the design hides the fatty tummy and is comfortable to wear for swimming. Also, the wrap style adds something special, so girly and stylish. For the pattern, I used my self-draft (TNT: tried and true pattern) and the sewing process was started by cutting the fabric pieces, sewing the elastic on the front lining and continuing to pin the necessary parts. As I mentioned before, here are two additional dresses that I designed to wear during my holiday. Both dresses were inspired by a previous self-drafted dress I made last year, which featured a ruffle yoke. You can see the original dress on my Instagram,  link here .  For the printed red dress, I skipped the ruffled yoke and the polka dot dress was the same as my first version. Also, I changed the elastic waistband into a waist tie and I like it more because it's easier to adjust, finished with the knot at the center back. This red dress was transparent, so I had to wear a slip dress underneath. The dress was comfortable to wear and perfect for the holiday. I wore it from breakfast, as a swimsuit cover and lunch.  For the fabric, I used printed cotton gauze that I bought last month in the local shop. I was on holiday in Bali with my family and had a great time, enjoying the beautiful place and delicious food 💗 And the good things, I made three simple dresses and one swimsuit to wear.  The first garment that I made was a sleeveless ruffled hem dress, an easy and simple design dress with a round neckline, side front darts, and a loose back with an invisible zipper at the CB, finished with a ruffle hem. The dress length is just below my knee. For the fabric I used a type of crepe printed in tiny floral that I bought from the local shop last month. The total was 1.5 yards, just enough for me to make a sleeveless dress.  For the pattern, I used my self-drafted. I made two dresses before. So the process will be easy for me. The sewing process was easy and fast, I did it in one afternoon. It started as usual, I sewed the front and back pieces right sides together at the shoulder line. Sewed the darts. I made a new dress last week, another simple design and comfortable to wear. I decided to make it the day before our trip to HK and glad that I managed to finish it in one afternoon. Bravo for me 😁  The dress has short sleeves and a square neckline which I like so much, the darts on the front, the invisible zipper at the center back, and the dress length just above my knee. A perfect dress for summer. I used my self-drafted pattern and linen blend fabric in printed boats I bought in the local shop last year. The two yards of fabric weren't enough to make the full dress, so I tried my best to use it all, and in the end, the backside of the dress was made from two pieces that I sewed together. Nobody will notice it, except when very close. The progress started with drafting the dress, my flat sketch is far from perfect but I have fun.
