Hello fellow sewists, showing you the refashioned garment for my entry to "Frumpy to Fabulous" February -  #magamsewalong  challenge. Saddly Sarah Liz is no longer hosting the challenge after some years supporting us to make something we really need. I was searching for the right pattern for my Liberty cotton tana lawn that I bought in London last year and happy I found  Burdastyle raglan sleeve chiffon dress 08/2014 . I think that my lightweight fabric is close enough to the original fabric suggestion. The original dress pattern has gathered cap sleeve, scoop neckline, pin-tucked front, hidden pockets and mini length. But in mine, I did the pin-tuck at the back too, omitted the hidden pockets because they look bulky on my final dress and I lengthen the dress to knee length.  Also, I omitted the body lining as the original pattern because my fabric wasn't transparent.

I finished this coat two weeks ago, wore it already and love how it turned out. The coat is so cosy and roomy, kind of menswear style with deep lapels and inseam pockets, finished with two snap buttons and big buttons for decoration.

Hi everyone, Don't get surprised with the amount of tops I made lately. I made five! Yes, I need them all to wear during summer :) I was lucky to have all the fabrics inside stash, most of them are the leftover from previous garments. Before I show you the pattern and detail, let's take a look of the finished tops. I love them all, they are really comfy and easy to wear with anything. The fabric are all one meter of knits, knit cotton (red, black, yellow and emerald blue) and denim jersey knit. I used  BurdaStyle Triangle Cutout Dress  pattern to make this top. I cut the length right in my hips, skip the triangle cutout and lower the neckline 3 cm. Except the one with denim jersey knit, the neckline is just like the original pattern. Also, I used 1 cm seam allowances in all edges and 1.5 cm hem allowance. The sewing process was very fast, I did each top in two hours including cutting the fabric. Hello everyone, Today I'd love to show you my new dress that I made last week. It is a lovely shift dress with pocket and easy to sew. The original pattern has triangle cutout in the front, but I skip it. Before I explain more about the detail, let's take a look of the final dress. I am wearing it today for MMMay'16 Day 12 , the picture taken in one of the small streets in Old Taipa Village - Macau :)   For the fabric, I used 1.75 yards of light weight denim jersey knit and for the pattern, I used BurdaStyle Triangle Cutout Dress 08/2014#117  size 36. Beside skipping the triangle cutout, I added 1.5 cm in the shoulder at the neckline and drew a new line of the neckline. Also I added 2 cm at the waist, then drew a new line from the armhole down to the hemline. As I want the dress length right on my knee, I added 3 cm from the original pattern with 2 cm hem allowance and 1.5 cm seam allowance in all edges. image source fr...

Hello, I finished the dress for my April stash "make a garment a month" . The fabric is one of my oldest stash and it is a very special batik from my country produced by Batik Keris, I am not sure which type, I bought it just because of the print :) After so much thinking of the right pattern, I decided to use BurdaStyle pattern from 08/2014 #106A  size 36. The dress is sleeveless, seamed in between a natural and drop waist for structure and hip pockets, just perfect for hot summer weather. Actually, the pattern suggest to use scuba knit or high tech fabric but I went with cotton. And as I used cotton, I added 2 cm in the both sides until the waist and 3 cm in both sides of the hips. And then I drew new facings for front and back. I also added the dress length 3 cm - just right in my knee with 2.5 cm hem allowance and 1.5 seam allowance in all edges. Happy New Year 2016 to you all! Today, I'd love to share my finished first project for  MAGAM  January with theme "Jump Into January". You can see my plans here in my facebook page . As usual the pattern is from BurdaStyle and the fabric is from my stash. I like how the top turned out, it is a girlish V-neck top with tuck which is perfect for casual wear in both day and night :) Materials: 2 yards of knit jersey in marsala and same colour of thread. Pattern: BurdaStyle V-neck Top With Tuck 08/2014  size 36 with following adjustment on the neckline, I raised 5 cm and changed the high low hem to the normal hem. For the neckband strip, I used 59 cm long and 3 cm width. Also, I used 0.75 cm seam allowances in all edges, 1 cm sleeve and hem allowances. Hello everyone, Finally I finished my three quarter coat and here I am wearing it but only to take pictures :) The weather is still hot outside and hope will getting cooler soon so I can wear my new coat. I promised that I am going to show all my sewing process and in case you are missing the previous process, here is a link  the part 1 After I have done the coat body and pockets, I sew the coat lining. I sew front trim to the front lining right sides together and sew the neck trim to the back lining right sides together. Press both pieces with iron. As shown in the pictures below, After I had the lining pieces, I pin and sew the front to the back at the shoulder right sides together. Press with iron. I attached the sleeve to the body right sides together. And then sew the side of the lining from the end of the sleeve down to the hemline. I did that for both sides.
