DIY Puff Sleeve Gingham Top With Ruffle Hem

Happy Monday, friends. I made a new summer top using gingham fabric and a self-drafted pattern. The top is simple, featuring puff sleeves, a round neckline, and a ruffled hem. I decided to make it to fill a gap in my summer wardrobe. The fabric is cotton, which is perfect for wearing in our humid and hot summer. This picture was taken yesterday, and we went for a Sunday walk at the mall. I wore the top with my old and trusted denim pants.  I bought this gingham cotton fabric as a souvenir from our trip to Singapore last year and I'm happy I finally made a top with it. And I still have enough leftover to make another top. The pattern was self-drafted and I made two tops using the same pattern before.  The front bodice with darts and the back does not have a dart for comfort.  The sewing process was fast and enjoyable. I sewed the darts on the front bodice. And then, I clipped and sewed the zipper on the back bodice pi...

DIY Swimsuit

I wanted to make a simple swimsuit in black colour since last year and glad I finally did it. I used my self-drafted pattern (copied and modified from my rtw swimsuit) and polyester fabric in black from the local shop.  I made two swimsuits last year, one with wrap style and another with v-neck style. Here is the link  DIY Swimsuits . For this black colour swimsuit, I used my v-neck swimsuit pattern as a base and modified the neckline, back side and shoulder. I made the scoop neckline, lowered the center back 4 cm and made the shoulder thinner. The picture below shows the fabric pieces after I cut them, back side on the fold, front side on the fold, upper front piece on the fold, back tie (cut two pieces), some elastic. And also, I made the lining from the same fabric - front and back pieces same as the main swimsuit. After I cut all the pieces, I worked on the upper front piece by stitching the sides where the pads inserted later and sewed the elastic ...

Square Neck Dress

Happy Friday friends, I finally finished my square neck dress and I like it. This dress was supposed to finish last month for my entry to #sewrecreatethelook challenge on Instagram but was delayed because of other things in life. Anyway, I decided to continue sewing my dress and hope to wear it soon. Also, I still have one more project from last month to finish (a bag pack), I will continue making it and then I will make the August plan. The  #sewrecreatethelook  was a fun challenge on Instagram last month hosted by  @jenlegg_teescreatives  and  @sosewdressmaking . My plan was to make a square neck dress, inspired by a dress that I found on Pinterest. I copied the neck design and sleeves but changed the circle skirt into a little flared knee-length skirt. My fabric choice was a cotton voile in tiny flower prints and lightweight white cotton for the lining. Both fabrics were from the local shop.  The sewing process started...

Refashioned Blouse

Hello fellow sewists, I decided to refashion my two old garments ( Summer Dress  and Long Sleeve Blouse ) into a new summer top with ruffle sleeve. The fabric is cotton lawn, I bought it as a souvenir from Seoul- South Korea three years ago.

Boucle Jacket And High Neck Top

Hi fellow sewists, I mentioned in my  Instagram post  two weeks ago that I finished the boucle jacket but I postponed my blog post because I wanted to make a new high neck top to wear with it as the model wearing in the picture below. Both garments are my entry to  #magamsewalong  October and November "Seasonal Stashbuster" hosted by  Sarah Liz . The boucle and brown colour silk satin lining fabrics were inside stash for ages and I bought the grey knit jersey last year.

Burdastyle Wrap Shirt

I decided to make this wrap shirt last week for my entry to  #burdachallenge2018  on Instagram and so surprised that I did this shirt in three days. I didn't make a muslin or wearable muslin, I was too brave but happy the final result wasn't so bad. It was a little bit loose at the shoulder and the wrap was too low for my liking but I can wear it. I will raise the wrap and make better fitting at the shoulder one day I make this shirt again. Pattern:  Wrap Shirt 07/2018 - 107  I used size 36 for the bust, 38 for the waist and hip. I did full arm adjustment and I'm happy with it. Fabric: I used printed knit jersey, leftover from  my previous dress  that I made in July.

Colour Block Marua Tunic Dress

This dress is my second version of S1033 Marua Tunic - My Image pattern #15 with modification. As I mentioned in  my first version , the original pattern was asymmetrical hemline tunic which I changed to normal hem and lengthen a little until my knee, also lower the neckline 1.5 cm and made full arm adjustment. And in this second version, I shorten the sleeve length until just the top of my elbow. Also, add the colour block in black knit cotton because I only have one yard of printed knit. Glad that I have black knit scrap in stash that is matching well with the print, otherwise I will go to fabric shop to buy the new piece.

Bomber Jacket

I made a bomber jacket last month and this is my second version from  Burdastyle Double Button Bomber Jacket 04/2017  size 36. I used knit fabric in Dahlia print and lightweight knit in brown colour for the lining. The original pattern doesn't include the lining but I decided to go with it for more professional look. This lightweight bomber jacket is my entry for sewing challenges in Instagram: " Alternative April"  #magamsewalong  hosted by  Sarah Liz Sew Style ,  #burdachallenge2018  for April hosted by  saturdaynightstitch and  #2018makenine  second garment hosted by homerowfiberco .

Waist Tie Dress

Hello, I managed to finish #magamsewalong June dress with theme "Seasonal Stashbuster" by the end of the month, but only today I have time to write a blog post. I like the pattern since the day I found it about three years ago, but somehow I didn't have a chance to make it. I was lucky to found the Simplicity magazine Autumn 2014 during our visit to Portugal, the magazine is in Spanish but I can follow the pictures and tutorials easily. I also saw other patterns such as tunic and jacket that I want to make in the future.
