Velvet Ribbon

Hello fellow sewists, I made a new coat and this is my first post of the year after a long absence. But before I write more, I want to wish you a Happy New Year, may 2018 be filled with happiness, love, health, prosperity and many sewing time to come. I have been sewing and knitting lately but no blog post, I was thinking to make one post about all my makes but then I gave up due busy time. But you can see all the photos on  my Instagram  if you are interested. About the coat, this garment is my entry for  #magamsewalong  January with the theme "Join In". To fit on the theme, I decided to make a garment that I really need at the moment and using stash fabric instead of buy the new one. But unluckily I don't have matching colour silk for the lining. I have black, three different blues, grey and white but no purple 😥 So I went to buy 4 yards of deep purple silk in the local shop that's enough to make two garments.

Hi.. Hope everyone have a lovely day and a happy sewing 😊 Today, a new blog update is about my latest oversize coat based on Burdastyle pattern 08/2014. I finished this coat two weeks ago, wore it already and love how it turned out. The coat is so cosy and roomy, kind of menswear style with deep lapels and inseam pockets, finished with two snap buttons and big buttons for decoration.

Hello everyone, Finally I finished my three quarter coat and here I am wearing it but only to take pictures :) The weather is still hot outside and hope will getting cooler soon so I can wear my new coat. I promised that I am going to show all my sewing process and in case you are missing the previous process, here is a link  the part 1 After I have done the coat body and pockets, I sew the coat lining. I sew front trim to the front lining right sides together and sew the neck trim to the back lining right sides together. Press both pieces with iron. As shown in the pictures below, After I had the lining pieces, I pin and sew the front to the back at the shoulder right sides together. Press with iron. I attached the sleeve to the body right sides together. And then sew the side of the lining from the end of the sleeve down to the hemline. I did that for both sides. Hello, I am working on my BurdaStyle coat for MAGAM  October with the theme "Sew the U.F.O". I traced the pattern and pre-washed the fabrics last year but in the end I couldn't make it. So, it is a lovely feeling that this time I am working on it and hopefully I can wear when the weather isn't too cool :) Pattern: BurdaStyle  Three Quarter Sleeve Coat 08/2014  size 36. The coat has boxy style, no collar, 3/4 sleeves and oversize patch pockets. I omitted the crease bottom (piece no 3) and instead of two pieces back coat, I made it on the fold. Also, I am not so sure how the boxy coat with oversize patch pockets will fit my petite frame.   More than one and a half months I didn't write a post in this blog. A little bit late but I wish you a very happy and warm new year, full of joy, happiness and success. I enjoyed my holiday season with my family and friends. Christmas is always full of surprises and new year is always a great moment.   And now, I want to share my new project that I worked for so long. I have done my first coat one week after new year.
