Velvet Ribbon

Last month, I started working on this little backpack for my entry to #sewjapaneseinjuly challenge on Instagram, but I couldn't finish it on time due to my busy life. So, instead of giving up and I continue sewing it. I'm glad I finished it yesterday and I love it. It's a very cute and useful little backpack, perfect to carry my wallet and small things.  I made my backpack fully lined with silk satin in dark blue. The main fabrics were medium weight cotton blend and printed cotton, both were leftovers from my previous garments. The zipper and plastic buckles were from my stash.  The pattern is based on a Japanese sewing book and I chose pattern number 18 as shown below. I liked the design and it's a great way to use leftover fabrics and scraps. Here is the look of my fabric pieces, I fused the fusible interfacing into the bag's flap and the printed fabric. Hello fellow sewists, I was checking my last post here in the blog and realised that I didn't make update for more than one and half months. I was busy with a lot of things but still making stuff/garments and most of them I published in  my Instagram . As things are back to normal this month and kid is back to school, I have a little free time to write a post and reading your posts too 😍 My latest makes are kimono top and slim pants, both are my entry to  #magamsewalong  hosted by lovely  Sarah Liz . This outfit is my August garment, I'm late but better late than never 😊

Hello friends, I made two cotton dresses recently based on Japanese sewing book that DH brought to me from Japan. The book name is Simple Adult Clothes (translated from Japanese) and I used pattern number 2, a simple v-neck kimono tunic that I lengthen the pattern into a dress.  As I am not sure about the sizing, I decided to make the first dress as wearable muslin in white and purple floral print in size M. I found out that the dress was too roomy for my liking, so I have to reduce 6 cm in both sides from under arm down to the hem. For the v-neckline, I was following the original pattern instruction to use binding from the same fabric but it doesn't work for me. So, I changed to knit ribbing binding in white, sew it around the v-neckline and top stitched with twin needle. For the seam allowance, I used 1.5 cm in all edges and 3 cm for sleeve and hem allowances.

Hello, Time flies so fast and can not believe that we are in May. I am participating Me-Made-May 2017 and this is my fifth year. And especially for day 1, I am wearing my brand new shift dress that I made last month for MAGAM  April with the theme "Sew Anything". Picture below taken this morning in the Garden of Flower City, I like to visit this garden from time to time to enjoy some flowers and fishes. Sorry for the wrinkle at the front dress, cotton fabric is so easy to wrinkle, especially after sitting a while inside the car. Anyway, nobody cares 😁

Hello, We are having crazy weather lately, from hot humid, foggy to cold. And not enough dealing with that, I got sick with cough allergies for some weeks 😢 But luckily I still sew some small garments for my son and finished this polka dot dress. This dress is my first based on Casual Sweet Clothes - Favourite Pieces For Everyday  sewing book by Noriko Sasahara that I bought during my visit to Singapore in October last year.
