Patchwork Tote Bag

Hello, I didn't make any updates to this blog since January. Busy life and also, I got sick and stayed in the hospital for a few days. I'm glad and thank God that I'm recovering and slowly back to my normal life, also starting to sew again (so happy).  I managed to make two tops and scrunchies in January, a long sleeve t-shirt and a hand-knitted cowl in February. I posted all my makes on  my Instagram  in case you are interested to see them. I started to sew again yesterday after I took a good rest and I managed to finish the patchwork tote bag that was on my sewing table since the beginning of this month. I used scrap fabrics left-over from my previous makes. I cut them in a rectangle shape and sewed them together. I sewed both sides and bottom, after that, I folded the upper back 3 cm and pinned the handle on both sides. I used the band for the handle. Sewed around the upper back two times, as shown in the pictures below. ...

DIY Backpack

Last month, I started working on this little backpack for my entry to #sewjapaneseinjuly challenge on Instagram, but I couldn't finish it on time due to my busy life. So, instead of giving up and I continue sewing it. I'm glad I finished it yesterday and I love it. It's a very cute and useful little backpack, perfect to carry my wallet and small things.  I made my backpack fully lined with silk satin in dark blue. The main fabrics were medium weight cotton blend and printed cotton, both were leftovers from my previous garments. The zipper and plastic buckles were from my stash.  The pattern is based on a Japanese sewing book and I chose pattern number 18 as shown below. I liked the design and it's a great way to use leftover fabrics and scraps. Here is the look of my fabric pieces, I fused the fusible interfacing into the bag's flap and the printed fabric. The instruction from the book came with pictures, so I can look...

DIY Necktie

Hello! As promised in the previous post, here is "diy necktie" that I made especially for DH. The idea came up last year when I bought the fabric, DH said could be great if I bought more fabric enough for my dress and matching tie for him. So, I bought three yards instead of two. For the pattern, I used his old tie for a base and follow the tutorial from  purl soho  - thanks Molly for the clear tutorial 😊

DIY Friday : Accessories

Hello everyone, I'd love to show you what I made last Friday. I made two cosmetic bags in big and small size, one pencil case, two sunglass cases and one small jewelry pouch. Here they are...    Pattern and materials for the cosmetic bags and pencil case: Pattern : Draft it yourself cosmetic bag followed with easy tutorial from Hannah In The House.   Materials : fabric scraps - medium crepe in pink floral and deep pink, lining fabrics - printed cotton and wine color cotton, zippers and thread.   The sewing process was easy and fast, I measured directly on the fabric and cut them all. For the big cosmetic bag I measured on the fabric 25 cm x 39 cm. For the small cosmetic bag I measured 18 cm x 26 cm. And for the pencil case 30 cm x 20 cm. All the sizes are including 1 cm seam allowances. I sew lining for the big cosmetic bag and pencil case but I leave the small cosmetic bag without lining.   Well, I forgot to take pictures...

DIY Hair Tie

Hi all, Today post is about hair accessories! I made these hair ties from the leftover fabrics that already sitting inside my stash for so long, I think some of them already there for almost 3 years. I took them out, washed and iron it. This is very easy, fast and fun small project to make and I'd love to share the step by step tutorials with all of you. I hope you like it:) Prepare the fabric, light weight cotton or silk. Cut rectangular shape, 30" x 6" (1/2" seam allowances included). Serge all the edges of the fabric using an overlock sewing machine. And cut elastic 7". With right side together, fold the fabric and pin it. Then stitch the fabric 1/2" seam allowance with the sewing machine. Turn it inside out.     Insert the safety pin into the elastic and pin it on the edge of the fabric as shown in the pictures. Insert another safety pin in the end of the elastic, and insert the elastic by pulling the safety...

Floral Drawstring Bag and Refashion T-shirt

front bag Hello everyone! Finally I have done my first project for 2013 Style The Stash Sew A long . I am really happy with my new drawstring bag but I am not that happy with my refashion t-shirt. Anyway, I'll be wearing the t-shirt on my everyday wear (home and garden when I play with my almost 3 years old son). Here are the details of the bag, I called floral bag, because it's made from floral fabric. It has two inner pockets, two side straps that I just sew together to make the bag stronger, the drawstring that ended with wooden beads and inserted bias tape on the upper and bottom bag to make the bag look nicer. Materials: 1/2 yard of lightweight floral linen (left over from my floral shorts), 1/2 yard of kind of heavy cotton in deep purple color, 1/2 yard of silk crepe de chine (left over from floral shorts) for inner bag, mid weight fusible interfacing for floral linen fabric, heavy weight fusible interfacing for deep purple fabric, hom...
