Velvet Ribbon

I wanted to make a simple swimsuit in black colour since last year and glad I finally did it. I used my self-drafted pattern (copied and modified from my rtw swimsuit) and polyester fabric in black from the local shop.  I made two swimsuits last year, one with wrap style and another with v-neck style. Here is the link  DIY Swimsuits . For this black colour swimsuit, I used my v-neck swimsuit pattern as a base and modified the neckline, back side and shoulder. I made the scoop neckline, lowered the center back 4 cm and made the shoulder thinner. The picture below shows the fabric pieces after I cut them, back side on the fold, front side on the fold, upper front piece on the fold, back tie (cut two pieces), some elastic. And also, I made the lining from the same fabric - front and back pieces same as the main swimsuit. Hello friends, I finished a midi dress for my entry to #magamsewalong challenge on Instagram. This month's theme is Jumble July and I decided to make a patchwork dress using my old dresses and scrap fabrics. For the pattern, I used my self-drafted slip dress pattern. I added darts (front and back) and lengthen the dress until the middle of my knee. Also, I made the straps a little bigger than my previous slip dress. The progress started with drafting the pattern pieces and cut the old dresses, rtw top and scrap fabrics into a square shape. And then stitched them together until formed a big piece of patchwork fabric, as shown in the pictures below. After that, I cut the fabric and the lining as well. Hi friends, happy weekend. I'm showing you my new make, a floral puff sleeve dress for my entry to  #magamsewalong  "Jamboree June" challenge on Instagram hosted by Sue, Suzy and Whendy. My plan was to make a special and feminine dress to wear for a dinner out with my family or a staycation in the local hotel later in the summer holiday. For the fabric, I used a floral rayon crepe from my stash and for the pattern, I used a Burdastyle dress with puff sleeves and a front gathering pattern from 03/2013 edition size 38. I didn't have enough fabric for the whole dress, so I made an adjustment to the pattern by reducing the size of the skirt. Here is the look of my pattern after I traced it, I reduced the sides of the skirt at the bottom 13 cm and then drew a new line to the upper skirt. Happy Tuesday, friends. I always like to make plans, especially for sewing. Because it keeps me focus on what I should make and avoid unnecessary sewing, also avoid wasting my precious time. I was checking my stash last week and realized that I still have enough fabrics to sew for a few months, which means I don't need to visit the fabric shop 😁 Honestly I always laugh when saying this.  I'll keep my promise but you know that fabric shopping is therapy and makes us (sewist) happy. My sewing plans this month are still the same as the previous month, I'll be sewing garments that I'm sure I will wear. Also, I will continue participating in the two challenges on Instagram, #magamsewalong and #sewyourwradrobebasics. I'm planning to make two dresses, one knit top, one slip dress to wear at home and one bathing cover-up to wear in case I'm going to the swimming pool. Hello friends, I made another cotton dress to wear every day. Summer is finally here and it's very hot and humid, so this dress will be a great addition to my wardrobe. For the fabric, I used two yards of cotton shirting in red and white stripes. This fabric was inside my stash for a while, I bought it on sale in the local shop. I used my self-drafted for the pattern (based on my dress sloper block from Basic Pattern Making book by Lucia Mors de Castro). I made the first version of this dress in gingham print but instead of a gathered skirt like this striped dress, I used a pleated skirt,  link here from my IG . My first plan was to make this dress for my entry to "April Ahoy" #magamsewalong challenge hosted by Sue  and Suzy , but I was so busy with other things. I managed to cut the fabric in April but finished in May. And gladly that Suzy suggested to me that this dress will work fine for "May-be Menswear" because I used men's shirting fabric. ...
