Ottobre Design Shirt

I made a shirt for my husband to wear at work, I started sewing the shirt last month and finished at the beginning of this month. It was slow progress but glad that it turned out as my plan. For the pattern, I used Ottobre Design 07/2017 Men's shirt size 56. I was lucky I found this magazine on our last trip to Portugal. Well, I miss traveling and hope this pandemic will be over and we all can travel again. The fabric I used for this shirt was cotton shirting in light pink from the local shop and stayed inside my stash for a while. So, I was happy that I finally made it into a shirt that my husband will wear.   The original pattern was long sleeves shirt with two different types of pockets, one with flap pockets and another without flaps. But in this case, I changed the shape of the pocket and used one side only. Also, I made it in short sleeves by cut the sleeve length above the elbow. I added collar stays too and lengthened the hem 7 cm. I was more organized ...

Black Button Down Shirt

Hello friends, I mentioned in the previous post that I sewed a black shirt for my husband. The shirt was his birthday gift last month and glad that he loved it. I used the tnt pattern Burdastyle Vintage Modern Frank Button Down Shirt size 56 with modification and this black shirt is the sixth version. I added 1 cm in both sides and lengthen the sleeve 1.5 cm this time. For the fabric, I used black cotton shirting from the local shop and I was surprised that they have stock of plain colour instead of stripes. Well, I still have two more shirts (dark blue and light pink) to sew for him and I hope to cut the fabrics soon. It is so difficult to see the detail on the black fabric, but anyway I took the picture to show you the whole look of the shirt. The good thing is that the black shirt is easy to wear with any colour of pants and it's truly wardrobe basic, I'm sure my husband will wear this at least in the next three of four years.   Picture above was ...

Men's Button-Down Shirts

Hello, I sewed two shirts for DH to wear at work and glad he loved them. The red shirt with tiny brown stripes was made last year and the white shirt with grey stripes was made a few weeks ago. Both fabrics were cotton shirting from the local shop and stayed a while in my stash.

Men's Shirt

I made this shirt especially for my husband Jose, a formal short sleeve shirt for him to wear at work. I used 100% cotton with light stripes. It was a little bit more challenging than what I thought to work with a men's shirt, but anyway I have done it nicely and I am very happy with my work. Here are all the details of my project: Style: A formal short sleeve shirt with left side pocket and flatter hem line instead of hanging like a deflated balloon. Materials: 1.5 yards of 100% white cotton with dark brown stripes, 7 pieces of button, fusible interfacing for the collar and same color thread. Pattern: I copied his old shirt size 17 as a pattern. I cut the old shirt and iron the pieces. After I have done all the pieces, I put them on the top of the paper and draw it one by one. It's very easy, right? And then I added 1.5 cm for the seam allowance and 4 cm for the hem allowance. How I worked: The total time for this project w...
