Velvet Ribbon

Hi there, I made this dress especially to wear on our summer holiday in Shanghai last month. Life was busy in past months and so glad I managed to sew a bit in my free time.  I was planning to make a simple dress with feminine touch, so I went to make a square neck dress with ruffle hem which I made a few before. And to made it extra, I added ruffle sleeves.  I was thinking the dress will be ready in two days but, something happened 😞 The square neckline was gaping and I had to fix it. I relieved, I fixed it with easy method. I inserted an elastic band between the facing and the neckline. Ta da! Hi there, I went on a holiday to Singapore with my husband and son and had a fantastic time. We loved Singapore, it is such a great place to visit. The food was delicious, and also managed to visit fabric stores. I made two new dresses (of course) using stashed fabrics and notions. Today, I'll show you the square-neck dress and another dress in a separate post. I made three versions of the square-neck dress before, but this time I made it with puff sleeves. The pattern was self-drafted and the fabric was African printed cotton that was inside my stash for a while. The sewing process was fast, I fused the zipper line and facings with fusible interfacing before starting to sew. It made the job easier. I sew the zipper and the shoulder lines. Sewed the facings together and attached them to the neckline. Gathered the sleeves, pinned and sewed them to the armholes. Sewed the sides, sleeves hems and hemline. Hi there, happy weekend 🌸🌸 I made a square neck dress to wear during my holiday last month and was happy with the result. The dress was easy to sew, and the fit was perfect for hot summer weather. The design was a simple short-sleeved dress with the addition of sweet a square neck. For the fabric, I used printed cotton that I bought in Bangkok in the last Easter holiday. And for the pattern, used my self-drafted. I made two dresses before using this pattern. The first dress was made in June last year using linen blend fabric,  link here . This time, I made the back neck in a round style and also reduced 1 cm to the square neck because the previous dresses were a bit bigger and made the square neck gaping.
