I made these activewear vest top and crop top since the beginning of the month and wore them sometimes for exercise (yoga) at home. These garments are my entry for "Jazz Up July"

For the fabrics, I used blue and black medium weight jersey knits from old and new stashes. The fabric suggestion from the pattern is four-way stretch fabric but I only have medium weight and I think it's fine.
And for the pattern, I used "Sew Your Own Activewear" book by
Melissa Fehr. Both vest top and crop top are based on close-fitting top block pattern, I used size XS with size L for the waistline and M for the hips.
Firstly I made a basic tank top and then I worked on the vest top and crop top. All modifications are written with step by step and pictures. I love this book and planning to make more garments (jacket, leggings and tops).
I was lucky to find this book during my trip to Bangkok last year.
Here is the pattern for the vest top, I love all the details especially the backside.
As I mentioned, I made the tank top first using black knit fabric and I jazzed it up with yellow top-stitching around the neckline, armhole, and hemline.
The result was a little loose and neckline was too big for my liking, so I reduced both sides from the armhole down to the hem 1.5 cm. Also, I made shoulder line wider 2 cm, raised the armhole and neckline 1.5 cm.
After the black tank top is done, I decided to make another one in daisy print jersey knit. It was a good decision because I need more tank tops for my activewear.
The process of making the vest top started with traced the pattern according to the book and cut the fabric as shown below.
And then sewed the pieces according to the usual manner. I love the fit and the look of the princess seamed front and the backside. I decided to raise the middle pieces (in blue color) 2 cm because it looks too low on me.
The finished armhole, neckline, and hemline were sewed with the twin needle.
I love this top so much and the bright blue jazzed up the boring black color.
About the crop top, the pattern pieces were the same as the vest top, omitted the middle and bottom pieces. Finished with a band, in my case I used the bright blue color.
The process was quick, I did it in two hours from cutting the fabric, sewing, and fitting.
And after I tried the crop top, I found out that the finished band was too loose. So I removed it, reduced 2.5 cm in both sides front and back, pinned and sewed again using my overlocker machine.
I recommended this book, it has two basic top and bottom blocks (close-fitting and loose-fitting) that we can modify to any patterns we like. Also, the book has some lovely pattern modifications with step by step tutorial and pictures, very clear and easy to follow. Thank you Melissa.
