Velvet Ribbon

Happy Friday friends, I finally finished my square neck dress and I like it. This dress was supposed to finish last month for my entry to #sewrecreatethelook challenge on Instagram but was delayed because of other things in life. Anyway, I decided to continue sewing my dress and hope to wear it soon. Also, I still have one more project from last month to finish (a bag pack), I will continue making it and then I will make the August plan. The  #sewrecreatethelook  was a fun challenge on Instagram last month hosted by  @jenlegg_teescreatives  and  @sosewdressmaking . My plan was to make a square neck dress, inspired by a dress that I found on Pinterest. I copied the neck design and sleeves but changed the circle skirt into a little flared knee-length skirt. My fabric choice was a cotton voile in tiny flower prints and lightweight white cotton for the lining. Both fabrics were from the local shop.  The sewing process started...

Happy Friday friends, I made two cotton dresses and I'm happy with how they turned out. I sewed the short sleeve dress last month and wore it a lot (from dinner out to the supermarket shopping) 😊  And the long-sleeve dress was finished yesterday and I look forward to wearing it in cooler weather with leggings and boots. I loved the simple design of these dresses, they suit my daily life without feeling too much dressing up, also I can wear them with sandals, shoes or sneakers.  For the short sleeve dress, I used printed cotton voile fabric in orange, purple, brown and off-white from the local shop. The fabric was light and perfect to wear in summer. The rest of notions (threads, fusible interfacing and invisible zipper) were from my stash. The pattern is based on my basic dress sloper, I moved the front vertical dart and made a-line design, also did the same for the back dart. I lowered the necklines and made new round necklines...

March theme for  #magamsewalong is Matching March and I decided to sew a denim dress matching with a denim bag. And in the end, I decided to sew a zippered pouch to go with the bag.  To follow my yearly theme, I used fabric from stash and leftover cotton scrap from the previous garment. Also, I managed to reuse my husband's shirt that he doesn't use for the pouch lining.  So happy that I don't need to go out to the fabric shop in the middle of this difficult time. Well, we don't have any social activities since the beginning of February and hope this pandemic will pass soon.

I made this dress in May but I didn't like the look of the final dress on me. The dress based on Burdastyle plumetis dress 04/2019-120 and fabric was Liberty cotton tana lawn in crushed pink, I bought this during our trip to London. Firstly, I omitted the stand collar and made a v-neck by folded the neckline to the outer side and hand sewed both lines. The dress has ruffles sleeve and hem, I decided to shorten the length of the ruffle hem until my knee. But I wasn't happy with the look of the ruffle sleeves on me and as I don't have too much time to sew I just put this dress back inside my closet. And only in October I pick it out and removed the ruffle sleeves, sewed and wore it. Well, as you saw in the picture above, the dress looks much better without ruffle sleeves.

Hello, I finished MAGAM sew along  May dress with theme "Sew Merry May" in the middle of the month and so glad that I recovered the dress and it turned out so good. You can see how happy I was, wearing me-made dress for mmmay day 17. The print truly made me happy and the black piping match perfectly with yellow 😊

Hello, We are having crazy weather lately, from hot humid, foggy to cold. And not enough dealing with that, I got sick with cough allergies for some weeks 😢 But luckily I still sew some small garments for my son and finished this polka dot dress. This dress is my first based on Casual Sweet Clothes - Favourite Pieces For Everyday  sewing book by Noriko Sasahara that I bought during my visit to Singapore in October last year. Hello, I made this dress to wear in a friend's wedding party in the end of the year. My plan was to wear the sleeveless dress that I made some years back but I gave up because of the cold weather. So, I decided to make this dress. I am glad that the dress finished on time and it fits me fine even I didn't make a muslin. For the fabric, I used wool blend with a little stretch in very dark blue colour from stash. For the pattern, I used Burdastyle Power dress 08/2016  size 36 with a modification on the neckline and sleeve. After all, my dress is nothing like the original pattern :) I changed the neckline from round neckline with front slit to a v-neckline, also I changed the short sleeve to a long sleeve. The dress has princess seams, knee length, back zipper, V shape at the front and back neckline - finished  with lace elastic band sewn around. The sewing process started with sew the princess seams at the front and back bodices...

Hello... As promised in the previous post, here are the two dresses that I made from the same pattern. The red one finished in May, exactly when the weather getting hotter and the blue one is a new dress that I made recently, just before my trip to Singapore. I used two BurdaStyle patterns,  BurdaStyle chiffon dress 01/2013#108 size 34 for the bodice with modification at the shoulder and BurdaStyle illusion neckline mini dress 09/2014#130  size 34 for the skirt.

Hello friends, As promised in my previous post , here is my second holiday dress. I wore it during our visit to N Seoul Tower, South Korea , pictures below taken in the park around the tower. I am sure you aren't surprised with the pattern I used, BurdaStyle Jamie Shift Dress  size 34. Well, this dress is my sixth version so far :) For the fabric, I used 1.5 yards of polycotton fabric in lucky cat printed that I bought in Hongkong last year. I don't know why I only bought 1.5 yards, if usually I use 2 yards for a dress. Anyway, with very careful calculation I made it :) I used bias tape instead of usual facings and cut the stripes of same fabric for hem allowance. This dress I made exactly like the original pattern, without back darts as I always added in my previous dresses. The process was fast, I finished it in five hours :) The process started with sewing the front darts and followed by all the usual manner that I don't need...

Hello everyone, I made two new dresses before my holiday, but today I will only show you the first one. The second dress will be in the next post. We visited Seoul - South Korea and enjoyed the place very much, good foods, great shopping for skincare ( I do love their masks and serums) and I was so surprised that we found fabric and yarn markets during our visit to the area of Dongdaemun market. Well, the fabric market is huge with so many collection of Korean cotton, I bought five kinds and I think is more than enough to make nine garments. Also, I bought eight skeins yarns for my future sweater :) All the souvenir was posted in my Instagram :) Okay, enough said about the fabric market. Hello, I made a new dress :) It has princess seams bodice, V-neckline, sleeveless, flared skirt and finished with invisible zipper at the back. Pattern : I modified BurdaStyle Retro Dress 09/2014  size 34. I made  my first dress based on this pattern last year, so I am not worried to trace the new pattern pieces :) Materials: 2 yards of ballerina print crepe in dark blue, fusible interfacing, invisible zipper, hook n eye fastener and same colour of thread. The process of making this dress started with modification of the pattern, I removed the button down from the original pattern and make the center front bodice and skirt on fold. Skip the pockets and then added invisible zipper at the center back. As the usual manner, I sewed the princess seams at the front and back bodices. Sewed the facings and attached to the neckline and armholes. Turned inside out and attached to the shoulder right sides together. After that I attached the skirt pieces on...
