Happy Halloween to all! I've been very quiet for a while, busy with a lot of things but so glad that I am still sewing 30 minutes - one hour a day and managed to finish some garments (a skirt, tunic and two dresses). I will be posting them in the next couple days :) For today, I'd love to show you a vest that I made for my son for his Halloween party :) Isn't he a very cute little Dracula?

July Dress in Ballerina Print

Hello, I made a new dress :) It has princess seams bodice, V-neckline, sleeveless, flared skirt and finished with invisible zipper at the back. Pattern : I modified BurdaStyle Retro Dress 09/2014  size 34. I made  my first dress based on this pattern last year, so I am not worried to trace the new pattern pieces :) Materials: 2 yards of ballerina print crepe in dark blue, fusible interfacing, invisible zipper, hook n eye fastener and same colour of thread. The process of making this dress started with modification of the pattern, I removed the button down from the original pattern and make the center front bodice and skirt on fold. Skip the pockets and then added invisible zipper at the center back. As the usual manner, I sewed the princess seams at the front and back bodices. Sewed the facings and attached to the neckline and armholes. Turned inside out and attached to the shoulder right sides together. After that I attached the skirt pieces on...

MAGAM March: 50's Inspiration Mint Dress

Hi everyone.. Finally I finished my mint dress for Make A Garment A Month  - March. This dress has princess seams, round neckline, short sleeves and fully gathered skirt with finished zipper at the back.  Pattern and alteration: I used two BurdaStyle patterns for this dress, pattern from 01/2013 for the bodice and sleeves and pattern from 09/2014  for the skirt. As the minimum size of the two patterns are 36, I have to grade down to 34. I also made some changes on the neckline, omitted the collar and change the 3/4 sleeves to a short sleeves Materials: 2 yards of printed crepe in mint color, jersey net in white color for bodice lining, invisible zipper, small vintage button and thread. Sewing Process: After I grade down the patterns to size 34, I made the bodice with sleeve muslin. I tried the muslin and found out that the sleeve was too tight. I added 4 cm to allow my upper arm to move freely. In this case, I draw a new sleeve pattern and...

Button Down Retro Dress

Hello, The weather is getting better here in Macau, which is a good sign that spring is coming :) I like spring, I miss wearing a dress with cardigan over it, wearing sandals or open shoes and paint my toe nails :) I want to say goodbye to wool/heavy fabrics and starting to sew lighter garments. I already started to put away wool and heavy fabrics and took out lighter fabrics from stash. Also, I starting draw some flat sketches and looking for the right patterns for them. I will show you in the next post... Well, I found a half sewn dress in the middle of pulling out the fabrics from stash and I remember that I supposed to sew this dress in November last year. I was planning to wear this dress on my mini vacation in Bangkok but somehow I couldn't finish it. Then I decided to continue sewing it. It was missing sew the armholes opening, sew the button holes and buttons and hem the dress. So, in my calc...

MAGAM November - Black Linen BurdaStyle Jacket

Hello everyone... I am late for posting my November garment for MAGAM challenge . As usual I was busy with some stuff and then I went out for mini vacation to Bangkok - Thailand with my family. So, only today I manage to updating the blog :) Actually, I finished the jacket on time. I wore it two times and I love it. The jacket is so comfortable and easy to wear with anything. The style is just perfect for my taste - not too boxy and not too tight. Too bad that in the pictures you can not see the details of the jacket because the color is black. But trust me, this jacket is really cute. And even cuter because I used vintage buttons :) Also, I chose the linen fabric because I want a light jacket that is perfect to wear in not so cold weather. Pattern: I used BurdaStyle Jacket Pattern 09/2014  size 36 with alterations. I made the jacket length longer 10 cm and moved the pockets little bit lower than the original pattern 5 cm. I short...
