March theme for #magamsewalong is Matching March and I decided to sew a denim dress matching with a denim bag. And in the end, I decided to sew a zippered pouch to go with the bag.
To follow my yearly theme, I used fabric from stash and leftover cotton scrap from the previous garment. Also, I managed to reuse my husband's shirt that he doesn't use for the pouch lining.
So happy that I don't need to go out to the fabric shop in the middle of this difficult time.
Well, we don't have any social activities since the beginning of February and hope this pandemic will pass soon.
The bag and pouch were my patterns, I explained all in my Instagram stories, highlights Denim Bag and I'll show you the pictures of the progress below.
My work progress of this dress was posting on my Instagram's IGTV and you can click the link if you are interested. https://www.instagram.com/p/B9hAdHhF9m-/
I cut the dress size 38 but in the end, I have to reduce both sides 2 cm, so I'll size down to 36 when I make the second version.
Also, I raised the pocket placement 3 cm because they look too low for my liking.
I sewed the leftover denim pieces and made the rectangle shape.
I reused my old bag handles and used cotton scrap for the bag lining.
The hand-embroidery was inspired by Sashiko stitch and I love the result, very cute! I'd love to make another in the future.
I top-stitched the bag where the two fabric pieces met and added my style sashiko stitch. It was a relaxing process.
I mentioned before that I reused my husband's shirt for the lining, glad the fabric is strong enough and beige color matching nicely with red and dark blue.
And two more photos of me wearing the dress and the matching bag. Pictures were taken in our balcony, no mask here but I always wearing when I'm out from the house.

DeleteI love all the details of your dress and bag! How great that you used everything from your stash, as well as your husband's shirt. That is resourceful, especially in a time like this!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Vanessa. Glad I have some fabrics in my stash, enough to keep me busy during this difficult time. We are staying at home since the beginning of February and still don't know when we have a normal life. Stay safe 🙏❤
DeleteAdore all three of your pretty makes!! All coordinate perfectly, yet have their own 'personalities', so to speak. Love the sashiko stitching!! And that you used fabric and supplies you already had on hand. Wishing you and your family good health in these crazy times. Hugs!! :)
