DIY Make-Up Zipper Pouch

Image
I made an easy make-up zipper pouch using leftover fabrics and was happy with the result. The final size was 26 cm x 12 cm. It's lovely, fluffy, useful and big enough to store all my makeup and skincare products.  Materials for the pouch: - Main fabric, lining and polyester batting, 40 cm x 50 cm. - Fabric tags (2x), 9 cm x 10 cm. - Bias tape band, 6 cm wide. - Zipper The sewing process started with topstitching (quilt style) the main fabric and polyester batting together. After that, I sewed the zipper at the main fabric (both sides). I attached and sewed the lining to the main fabric, right sides together. And then, topstitched both sides of the zipper. And cut the excess zipper.  I sewed the tags and inserted them in both sides of the end of the zipper and sewed along the lines. I sewed the bias tape bands on both sides. And cut the corners in square shape 4 cm x 4 cm (not including seam allowance). I connected the squares together and sewed them. I sewed the bias ta...

Floral Slip Dress

Image
I made a new floral slip dress using a yard of leftover cotton fabric and a self-drafted pattern. The sewing process was fun,  I did this dress for six hours in total during my free time in three days, which is not bad šŸ˜Š The dress was finished with straps and adjusters, knee length, and finished the neckline with facings. The only problem was that the fabric needed to be more to make the whole dress and I decided to make the back bottom dress using leftover pieces sewn together. It worked, nobody noticed it because of the busy floral print.  This dress is my entry to Magamsewalong #magamjammingjune challenge on Instagram. Thank you for hosting  Sue  ,  Suzy  and  Nic  šŸ’—  Here is the look of my self-drafted pattern, I made this slip dress three times or more before. A good TNT pattern šŸ˜Š   My fabric wasn't enough for the whole back dress, so I added leftover pieces sewn together for the back bottom dress. ...

Refashioned Ruffle Hem Top

Image
Hi there, happy sewing! I made a new ruffle hem top, refashioned from the cotton dress I made a few years ago. For the pattern, I used a self-drafted top. The top is lovely, with a square neckline, sleeveless and a little ruffle at the hemline. Perfect for summer. I love it and this will be a great addition to my handmade wardrobe. Also, the top is easy to wear with a skirt or pants.  Here is the old dress, it's still in good condition but I really want to refashion it šŸ˜Š I bought the fabric during our trip to Japan, it's lovely floral cotton. I removed the zipper and the sleeves and cut the fabric. For the ruffle hem, I used whatever was left and connected them together.  Here are the top pieces after cutting and for the facings, I used light purple cotton leftover and fused them with fusible interfacing. The sewing process was enjoyable and I did the top in three days during my free time. It started with sewing the darts, the f...

I'm a little bit late to share Me-Made-May recap but better late than never, right šŸ˜Š May was a great month, I enjoyed everyone's posts on Instagram and met new sewists.  I found inspiration and made a few notes about what I needed to sew or refashion in the coming months. My wardrobe needs some skirts and pants. Also, I need to replace some old dresses that are too tight and uncomfortable to wear. My special thank you to Zoe  @sozoblog  for hosting the challenge and I look forward to participating again next year. Many thanks to all my followers on IG for the likes and comments during May, and also to DH and DS for taking the daily pictures šŸ’—šŸ’— Okay, let's get started with the recap for day 15-23.
