DIY V-neck Tiered Dress

Image
Hello, I made three dresses to wear on my trip to Bangkok during the Easter holiday and this dress is the first one I made. I will share another two in the next posts.  I started working on this dress two weeks before the trip and I'm glad I managed to finish it on time, as well as my other dresses.  This dress was fun and relaxing to sew because I made one before in a midi length, so this time I shortened the length until my knee and sewed it easily. For the fabric, I used a printed rayon from my stash and white cotton lining leftover from my previous make. For the pattern, I used my self-drafted pattern. At first, I didn't want to add the lining but I had to because the fabric was a bit transparent, the lining fabric wasn't enough and I connected the pieces to make the back skirt. Here is the look of the fabric after cutting and the skirt was pieces of a rectangle: the first tiers - front and back, the last tier on the fold ( I forgot to take the p

Finished Magam June Outfit

Hello everyone,
Sorry for my late post! Here is my June MAGAM outfit based on Burdastyle patterns..
T-shirt details,
Simple style t-shirt, nothing fancy but perfect for everyday wear.

Pattern and modification:
For the pattern, I used Burda t-shirt pattern 06/2008 - 113 size 34. You can check out my first version here.
As you all see that my first version was fine but I am not so happy with how the neckline turned out, so I decided to raise the front neckline 2 cm and I used smaller neckband 1 cm.

Materials:
1.5 yards of knit cotton in white color, stay tape for the shoulder lines, and white color thread.

For the sewing process, you all can see here in my first version. But I omitted the contrast stitching and made the neckband smaller. And  I think that the neckband turned out well :-)
Here are the pictures of the t-shirt - front and back views,

Skirt details,
Very cute and girly floral skirt, it has a slight flare and decorative large hip-yoke pockets. But I omitted the pockets because my fabric is too light. I will make another version of this skirt with pockets for my next project. I already have the right fabric from my stash :)

Pattern and adjustments:
For the pattern, I used Burdastyle skirt 10/2013  size 36 with adjustments on the waist and hips area. I also change the side zipper to the middle back, omitted the pockets and shorten the skirt length 4 cm.

Materials:
1.5 yards of floral stretch cotton, fusible interfacing for the waist band and hem line, invisible zipper in white color, snap fasteners and matching thread.

Sewing process:
Easy and fun project to make. The skirt come with 4 slices of patterns (front skirt panel, front yoke, back skirt panel, back yoke) and self-drafted straight waistband 5 cm wide. I also change the side zipper to the middle back with 2 cm seam allowances.
Here is some of the process:
  • I sew the skirt according to the instructions, but as I mentioned above that I omitted the pockets. So, I just sew the front yoke to the skirt and topstitching it at the right side.
  • I did the same for the back skirt, but for the next time I'd love to remove the back yoke. We will see later..
  • Then I sew the skirt front and back right sides together. Sew the invisible zipper and prepare my waist band.
  • For the waist band, I fuse fusible interfacing on the wrong side and sew it to the skirt. Then finish it with two snap fasteners. Then I sew the skirt hem 4 cm. Done!

I wish you all a lovely Friday and Happy sewing!!
