DIY Shirt Jacket (Shacket), Burdastyle Pattern

Image
Hi there, Happy New Year and I wish you all the best in 2025 💖 Today's post is about the finished shirt jacket (shacket) I started working on in October last year. It was delayed because I was doing other things but well, I'm glad I finished it and look forward to wearing it daily. It's a simple and comfy shacket. It has low shoulders and is finished with a straight hemline. I used Burdastyle long jacket 9/2023 size 40 for the pattern and shortened the length.  For the fabric, I used cotton chino in beige from my stash. Also, the rest of the notions were from stash, yay! for not buying anything new 😍 The sewing process started in October last year. I did it in my free time, but unfortunately, I couldn't finish quickly. And then, other projects came and I put this shacket aside. As usual, I pinned and sewed the back pieces together as shown below. And then, sewed the front and back pieces together. Fused the f...

Sleeveless Ruffled Hem Dress

I was on holiday in Bali with my family and had a great time, enjoying the beautiful place and delicious food 💗 And the good things, I made three simple dresses and one swimsuit to wear.
The first garment that I made was a sleeveless ruffled hem dress, an easy and simple design dress with a round neckline, side front darts, and a loose back with an invisible zipper at the CB, finished with a ruffle hem. The dress length is just below my knee.

For the fabric I used a type of crepe printed in tiny floral that I bought from the local shop last month. The total was 1.5 yards, just enough for me to make a sleeveless dress.
For the pattern, I used my self-drafted. I made two dresses before. So the process will be easy for me.

The sewing process was easy and fast, I did it in one afternoon. It started as usual, I sewed the front and back pieces right sides together at the shoulder line. Sewed the darts.
Sewed the facing to the neckline.
And carefully pinned and sewed the invisible zipper at the CB, as shown in the photo below,
After the zipper was inserted, I sewed the sides and worked on the armholes. I used bias tape bands to finish the armholes and blind-stitch them.
I worked on the ruffle hem, gathered the fabric first and then sewed it to the dress. The last process was to sew the hemline 0.50 cm.
And here are the finished dress modeled by my dress form, front, side and back views.

And more pictures of me wearing the dress during the holidays and beautiful places we were staying. We were totally relaxed and had a lovely time.

Thank you for stopping by and reading my post, I'll write more about my new makes very soon.
Happy sewing 💗
