DIY Shirt Jacket (Shacket), Burdastyle Pattern

Hi there, Happy New Year and I wish you all the best in 2025 💖 Today's post is about the finished shirt jacket (shacket) I started working on in October last year. It was delayed because I was doing other things but well, I'm glad I finished it and look forward to wearing it daily. It's a simple and comfy shacket. It has low shoulders and is finished with a straight hemline. I used Burdastyle long jacket 9/2023 size 40 for the pattern and shortened the length.  For the fabric, I used cotton chino in beige from my stash. Also, the rest of the notions were from stash, yay! for not buying anything new 😍 The sewing process started in October last year. I did it in my free time, but unfortunately, I couldn't finish quickly. And then, other projects came and I put this shacket aside. As usual, I pinned and sewed the back pieces together as shown below. And then, sewed the front and back pieces together. Fused the f...

DIY Midi Dresses

Hi there, Happy Friday 🌸🌸
Today's update is about two new dresses that I made to wear on special outings. The sleeveless orange midi dress was made in October and the long-sleeved dress was made at the beginning of this month.
Both patterns were self-drafted, and the dresses had ruffles at the bottom tier. And to complete the look, I added a removable bow and pinned it to the neckline.

For the sleeveless midi dress, I used a linen blend fabric a souvenir from my trip to Bangkok and the fabric was enjoyable to sew.

As usual, the sewing process started with pinning and sewing the darts and then attached the facings to the front and back pieces right sides together.
I pinned it around and then sewed it, but I left a few centimeters open to sew the shoulder lines. I love this method, the finished facing looks clean and neat.

I closed the opening area with hand sewing.

I gathered the bottom tiers and then sewed them to the front and back pieces.

You can watch the process of making this dress on my YouTube channel, link here
or simply click the video below,

And here are the pictures of the finished dress, I wore this dress for breakfast with my friends and I look forward to wearing it again in summer, with or without the bow.

For the long-sleeved midi dress, I used the same pattern as the orange dress with the addition of long sleeves and adjusting the shoulder line.
The fabric was from the local shop, a cotton blend in black with tiny floral prints.

The process was enjoyable and fast. I did this dress a day before our Wedding Anniversary dinner. I was glad I managed to finish it on time.
I posted the making of this dress on my Youtube Shorts and here is the link in case you are interested to watch it.

I hand-sewed the finished facing and it was very relaxing, especially after hurrying up to finish the dress 😄

I made a removable silk bow to complete the look and I love it. It added sweetness to the plain dress.

I wore the dress on a special dinner to celebrate our 13th Wedding Anniversary, it was a beautiful night and a great dinner 💖💖

I think is more than enough for today, thank you for stopping by and happy sewing 💗
