Velvet Ribbon

Hi there, as promised, here is the second dress I made to wear on my recent travels. It is a gathered-waist v-neck dress with puff sleeves. It is comfy but stylish and also perfect for hot weather. I wore this dress the whole day, exploring the city. The rayon fabric was perfect, airy, and didn't make me sweat. I bought the printed rayon fabric from the local shop and it had been inside my stash for years. So, I was glad I finally made it into a dress. And I used my self-drafted pattern, I made a few dresses based on the same pattern. But this time, I added puff sleeves.  The pattern had seven pieces ( front on fold x1, front lining on fold x1, back x2, back lining x2, sleeves x2, front skirt on fold x1, and back skirt x2). The sewing process started with sewing the darts, sewing the front and back pieces together at the shoulder, both sides and the linings. After that, I pinned and sewed the bodice and lining together. Hi there, I went on a holiday to Singapore with my husband and son and had a fantastic time. We loved Singapore, it is such a great place to visit. The food was delicious, and also managed to visit fabric stores. I made two new dresses (of course) using stashed fabrics and notions. Today, I'll show you the square-neck dress and another dress in a separate post. I made three versions of the square-neck dress before, but this time I made it with puff sleeves. The pattern was self-drafted and the fabric was African printed cotton that was inside my stash for a while. The sewing process was fast, I fused the zipper line and facings with fusible interfacing before starting to sew. It made the job easier. I sew the zipper and the shoulder lines. Sewed the facings together and attached them to the neckline. Gathered the sleeves, pinned and sewed them to the armholes. Sewed the sides, sleeves hems and hemline. Hi there, Happy Friday 🌸🌸 Today's update is about two new dresses that I made to wear on special outings. The sleeveless orange midi dress was made in October and the long-sleeved dress was made at the beginning of this month.  Both patterns were self-drafted, and the dresses had ruffles at the bottom tier. And to complete the look, I added a removable bow and pinned it to the neckline.  For the sleeveless midi dress, I used a linen blend fabric a souvenir from my trip to Bangkok and the fabric was enjoyable to sew. As usual, the sewing process started with pinning and sewing the darts and then attached the facings to the front and back pieces right sides together. I pinned it around and then sewed it, but I left a few centimeters open to sew the shoulder lines. I love this method, the finished facing looks clean and neat.
