DIY Puff Sleeve Gingham Top With Ruffle Hem

Image
Happy Monday, friends. I made a new summer top using gingham fabric and a self-drafted pattern. The top is simple, featuring puff sleeves, a round neckline, and a ruffled hem. I decided to make it to fill a gap in my summer wardrobe. The fabric is cotton, which is perfect for wearing in our humid and hot summer. This picture was taken yesterday, and we went for a Sunday walk at the mall. I wore the top with my old and trusted denim pants.  I bought this gingham cotton fabric as a souvenir from our trip to Singapore last year and I'm happy I finally made a top with it. And I still have enough leftover to make another top. The pattern was self-drafted and I made two tops using the same pattern before.  The front bodice with darts and the back does not have a dart for comfort.  The sewing process was fast and enjoyable. I sewed the darts on the front bodice. And then, I clipped and sewed the zipper on the back bodice pi...

Refashioned Patchwork Dress

Image
I made a patchwork dress for my entry to  #magamsewalong  challenge on Instagram. The progress was very relaxing and I did it slowly, one hour every day in my free time and glad after two and half weeks I finished my dress.  After searching for inspiration on Pinterest, I decided to make a simple dress with a v-neck and short sleeves. For the fabric, I reused the fabric from my two old favourite dresses that don't fit me anymore and leftover scrap.  Joyful sweetheart dress  and  sleeveless dress with bow My sewing progress started with cutting all the fabrics into square and rectangle shapes, mixed the prints, pinned and sewed them together. After that, I sewed the raw edges using an overlocker machine and pressed them with an iron. The result was 1.5 m x 95 cm that was enough for me to make a short sleeves dress. For the pattern, I used my self-drafted v-neck dress. The v-neckline finished...

Ottobre Design Shirt

Image
I made a shirt for my husband to wear at work, I started sewing the shirt last month and finished at the beginning of this month. It was slow progress but glad that it turned out as my plan. For the pattern, I used Ottobre Design 07/2017 Men's shirt size 56. I was lucky I found this magazine on our last trip to Portugal. Well, I miss traveling and hope this pandemic will be over and we all can travel again. The fabric I used for this shirt was cotton shirting in light pink from the local shop and stayed inside my stash for a while. So, I was happy that I finally made it into a shirt that my husband will wear.   The original pattern was long sleeves shirt with two different types of pockets, one with flap pockets and another without flaps. But in this case, I changed the shape of the pocket and used one side only. Also, I made it in short sleeves by cut the sleeve length above the elbow. I added collar stays too and lengthened the hem 7 cm. I was more organized ...
