DIY Midi Dresses

Image
Hi there, Happy Friday 🌸🌸 Today's update is about two new dresses that I made to wear on special outings. The sleeveless orange midi dress was made in October and the long-sleeved dress was made at the beginning of this month.  Both patterns were self-drafted, and the dresses had ruffles at the bottom tier. And to complete the look, I added a removable bow and pinned it to the neckline.  For the sleeveless midi dress, I used a linen blend fabric a souvenir from my trip to Bangkok and the fabric was enjoyable to sew. As usual, the sewing process started with pinning and sewing the darts and then attached the facings to the front and back pieces right sides together. I pinned it around and then sewed it, but I left a few centimeters open to sew the shoulder lines. I love this method, the finished facing looks clean and neat. I closed the opening area with hand sewing. I gathered the bottom tiers and then sewed them to...

Green Floral Dress

Hello, I made a simple dress to wear daily. I used floral green rayon fabric leftover from my previous dress.
The pattern was self-drafted based on my basic blocks.
Dress details: a very loose dress, short sleeves, v-neckline with pleat, no zipper but I sewed back slit opening finished with button and I made a waist tie from the same fabric.

The process was fast, I did this dress in five hours. The neckline was finished with neck facing and top-stitched by hand.
I added pleat in the center front, folded the fabric and sewed it down until my waistline.
I sewed belt loops and waist tie (belt) from the same fabric, I attached the belt loops 2 cm above my waistline.
I sewed the sleeve hems and hemline with blind hem using the sewing machine. And the rest of the process was the same as the usual manner. So I don't need to explain more 😊

The tote bag was me-made too, I used leftover home decor fabric and scraps fabrics for the patchwork 😊

That's it for today, stay safe and well ❤
Happy sewing!

  1. Pretty colors and pretty design print of the fabric. The dress design lets us see the floral design nicely. I enjoy seeing your pretty sewing, and always look forward to your next creation.
