DIY V-neck Tiered Dress

Image
Hello, I made three dresses to wear on my trip to Bangkok during the Easter holiday and this dress is the first one I made. I will share another two in the next posts.  I started working on this dress two weeks before the trip and I'm glad I managed to finish it on time, as well as my other dresses.  This dress was fun and relaxing to sew because I made one before in a midi length, so this time I shortened the length until my knee and sewed it easily. For the fabric, I used a printed rayon from my stash and white cotton lining leftover from my previous make. For the pattern, I used my self-drafted pattern. At first, I didn't want to add the lining but I had to because the fabric was a bit transparent, the lining fabric wasn't enough and I connected the pieces to make the back skirt. Here is the look of the fabric after cutting and the skirt was pieces of a rectangle: the first tiers - front and back, the last tier on the fold ( I forgot to take the p

Make A Garment A Month, November plan..

Hello lovelies...
Today post is a very quick update of my November sewing plan for make a garment a month challenge hosted by Sarah Liz. I have chosen my fabrics and pattern. It will be a long sleeves shirt with two color combination, both of the fabrics are knit cotton - deep purple color and grey printed with purple leaves.
For the pattern, I chose Burdastyle pattern - Paneled Jersey Shirt 10/2013. The instructions said that I should use jersey knit fabric only, but I think my fabric choice will be good to make the shirt too. We will see... Wish me a good luck!

  1. Love those colours and I can't wait to see how it turns out. Are you placing the print on the outside? Or centre panel?

    2. Thanks, you too. I have 2 new dresses to put up on flickr next week. I was wondering, how long does fabric need to be in the stash for it to qualify as a stash bust? I've been thinking about this a lot lately because I rarely buy fabric for a special purpose. I just buy when I see fabric I like, so does that mean I'm always topping up my stash?

    3. Ohh... I can not wait to see your two new dresses :) I am sure they both are pretty :)
In my opinion and some people agree with me, I will call the fabric stash when I buy the fabric without any special purpose and stay inside stash box minimum 3 months.
And you are not alone, I am trying to control my self from buying new fabrics but I can not. So, my stashes are growing and some of the fabrics are in the bottom line for more than three years. That's scary!
