DIY Make-Up Zipper Pouch

Image
I made an easy make-up zipper pouch using leftover fabrics and was happy with the result. The final size was 26 cm x 12 cm. It's lovely, fluffy, useful and big enough to store all my makeup and skincare products.  Materials for the pouch: - Main fabric, lining and polyester batting, 40 cm x 50 cm. - Fabric tags (2x), 9 cm x 10 cm. - Bias tape band, 6 cm wide. - Zipper The sewing process started with topstitching (quilt style) the main fabric and polyester batting together. After that, I sewed the zipper at the main fabric (both sides). I attached and sewed the lining to the main fabric, right sides together. And then, topstitched both sides of the zipper. And cut the excess zipper.  I sewed the tags and inserted them in both sides of the end of the zipper and sewed along the lines. I sewed the bias tape bands on both sides. And cut the corners in square shape 4 cm x 4 cm (not including seam allowance). I connected the squares together and sewed them. I sewed the bias ta...

Unlined Jacket

I finally finished my light jacket after almost a month working on it. This jacket supposed to be my entry to #sewyourwardrobebasics a sewing challenge on Instagram last month but I couldn't make it on time due to lack of sewing time and bad planning.
Anyway, better late than never and I'm glad to have this type of jacket in my wardrobe šŸ˜Š

Jacket pattern: Budastyle unlined jacket 07/2008 size 38, I made full arm adjustment, skip the belt loops, finished the seam and hem allowances with Hongkong seams method and sewed the buttons and buttonholes.
For the fabric, I used a cotton blend from stash, bought two years ago during our trip to Tokyo and I made the bias tape from my dress that I don't wear anymore.
For the buttons, I reused my husband's suit buttons and glad they were matched.

The sewing progress was so slow but I enjoyed it. Started with sewing the front and back pieces, attached the bias tape (this method was taking a long time to finish).
And then involved a lot of basting, especially in the neckline, collar and front bodices. Too many works but the result was neat.

I managed to sew a t-shirt to wear with the jacket. Pattern based on Ottobre Design 07/2017, detail here and I used the leftover knit cotton fabric from my previous garment.
This t-shirt is my entry to #sewyourwardrobebasics April with theme 'Tops". I'm planning to make three tops, finished one and two are in the progress. I was brave to plan three tops because they are easy and fast to make šŸ˜Š
I'll be posting the detail of the tops when they are done.
Stay safe, stay well and happy sewing! šŸ’—

  2. The jacket is wonderful. I'm always impressed by bound seams - so much work bit so meat and tidy.
