DIY Puff Sleeve Gingham Top With Ruffle Hem

Image
Happy Monday, friends. I made a new summer top using gingham fabric and a self-drafted pattern. The top is simple, featuring puff sleeves, a round neckline, and a ruffled hem. I decided to make it to fill a gap in my summer wardrobe. The fabric is cotton, which is perfect for wearing in our humid and hot summer. This picture was taken yesterday, and we went for a Sunday walk at the mall. I wore the top with my old and trusted denim pants.  I bought this gingham cotton fabric as a souvenir from our trip to Singapore last year and I'm happy I finally made a top with it. And I still have enough leftover to make another top. The pattern was self-drafted and I made two tops using the same pattern before.  The front bodice with darts and the back does not have a dart for comfort.  The sewing process was fast and enjoyable. I sewed the darts on the front bodice. And then, I clipped and sewed the zipper on the back bodice pi...

Men's Shirt

Image
I made this shirt especially for my husband Jose, a formal short sleeve shirt for him to wear at work. I used 100% cotton with light stripes. It was a little bit more challenging than what I thought to work with a men's shirt, but anyway I have done it nicely and I am very happy with my work. Here are all the details of my project: Style: A formal short sleeve shirt with left side pocket and flatter hem line instead of hanging like a deflated balloon. Materials: 1.5 yards of 100% white cotton with dark brown stripes, 7 pieces of button, fusible interfacing for the collar and same color thread. Pattern: I copied his old shirt size 17 as a pattern. I cut the old shirt and iron the pieces. After I have done all the pieces, I put them on the top of the paper and draw it one by one. It's very easy, right? And then I added 1.5 cm for the seam allowance and 4 cm for the hem allowance. How I worked: The total time for this project w...

More than one and a half months I didn't write a post in this blog. A little bit late but I wish you a very happy and warm new year, full of joy, happiness and success. I enjoyed my holiday season with my family and friends. Christmas is always full of surprises and new year is always a great moment.   And now, I want to share my new project that I worked for so long. I have done my first coat one week after new year. I was a little bit scared to work with coat, but anyway...YES! I made it:)   Here are the details about this coat:   Style: Knee length double breasted buttons closure coat. I kept the style very simple, there is no pocket or belt. I inspired by magazine and street people.   Materials: I used 2.5 yards of tweed wool blend in dark blue color, 2.5 yards of silk crepe de chine in dark blue color for lining, fusible interfacing for the collar, handmade shoulder pads, 10 pieces big black buttons and sa...
