Refashioned Ruffle Hem Top

Image
Hi there, happy sewing! I made a new ruffle hem top, refashioned from the cotton dress I made a few years ago. For the pattern, I used a self-drafted top. The top is lovely, with a square neckline, sleeveless and a little ruffle at the hemline. Perfect for summer. I love it and this will be a great addition to my handmade wardrobe. Also, the top is easy to wear with a skirt or pants.  Here is the old dress, it's still in good condition but I really want to refashion it 😊 I bought the fabric during our trip to Japan, it's lovely floral cotton. I removed the zipper and the sleeves and cut the fabric. For the ruffle hem, I used whatever was left and connected them together.  Here are the top pieces after cutting and for the facings, I used light purple cotton leftover and fused them with fusible interfacing. The sewing process was enjoyable and I did the top in three days during my free time. It started with sewing the darts, the fa

Self-drafted Denim Skirt And Purple T-shirt

I finished the denim skirt and purple t-shirt yesterday and I'm happy that they will be a great addition to my summer wardrobe. My first plan was to make only the a-line denim skirt for my entry to Sew Your Wardrobe Basics challenge hosted by Sea Of Teal  but I decided to make a t-shirt to wear with it. The t-shirt was a quick make, I did it in two hours because I used my TNT (tried and true) pattern. For both garments, I used my self-drafted patterns and the fabrics were from my stash and leftover from my previous top. The A-line skirt pattern based on my basic skirt sloper, I followed a Youtube tutorial from Kim Dave Design  link here  and then I modified it to an A-line Skirt by adding 3.5 cm in the bottom sides of the skirt pieces and draft a new line to the hipline. I removed the darts and reduced the waistline by 2.5 cm, as shown in the picture below. This A-line skirt was easy to make and suitable for a beginner sewist, I made it in th

Refashioned Garments

I refashioned my two me-made dresses and rtw cardigans, the progress started in September last year, very slow sewing but in the end, I'm happy that I managed to refashion four garments in seven months 😃 Well, I have more plans for the future but I'll talk about that in another post. The progress was fun and easy, I shared each of them on  my Instagram  except the grey cardigan. So, today I decided to write more details in this blog. Printed Blue Cotton Dress. I made this printed blue dress in November 2019 using Jijaka print fabric that I bought during our trip to Singapore, I found it in the Spotlight store.   For the pattern, I used Burdastyle, hacked into a button-down dress with a v-neckline. Also, I added a final touch in the sleeves with a little vent finished with a button. I love this dress so much and wore it a lot after I finished it, but too bad I gained a few kilos and it didn't fit me. So, instead of giving this dress away, I decided to me
