DIY Midi Dresses

Image
Hi there, Happy Friday 🌸🌸 Today's update is about two new dresses that I made to wear on special outings. The sleeveless orange midi dress was made in October and the long-sleeved dress was made at the beginning of this month.  Both patterns were self-drafted, and the dresses had ruffles at the bottom tier. And to complete the look, I added a removable bow and pinned it to the neckline.  For the sleeveless midi dress, I used a linen blend fabric a souvenir from my trip to Bangkok and the fabric was enjoyable to sew. As usual, the sewing process started with pinning and sewing the darts and then attached the facings to the front and back pieces right sides together. I pinned it around and then sewed it, but I left a few centimeters open to sew the shoulder lines. I love this method, the finished facing looks clean and neat. I closed the opening area with hand sewing. I gathered the bottom tiers and then sewed them to...

Self-drafted Denim Skirt And Purple T-shirt

Image
I finished the denim skirt and purple t-shirt yesterday and I'm happy that they will be a great addition to my summer wardrobe. My first plan was to make only the a-line denim skirt for my entry to Sew Your Wardrobe Basics challenge hosted by Sea Of Teal  but I decided to make a t-shirt to wear with it. The t-shirt was a quick make, I did it in two hours because I used my TNT (tried and true) pattern. For both garments, I used my self-drafted patterns and the fabrics were from my stash and leftover from my previous top. The A-line skirt pattern based on my basic skirt sloper, I followed a Youtube tutorial from Kim Dave Design  link here  and then I modified it to an A-line Skirt by adding 3.5 cm in the bottom sides of the skirt pieces and draft a new line to the hipline. I removed the darts and reduced the waistline by 2.5 cm, as shown in the picture below. This A-line skirt was easy to make and suitable for a beginner sewist, I mad...

Refashioned Garments

Image
I refashioned my two me-made dresses and rtw cardigans, the progress started in September last year, very slow sewing but in the end, I'm happy that I managed to refashion four garments in seven months 😃 Well, I have more plans for the future but I'll talk about that in another post. The progress was fun and easy, I shared each of them on  my Instagram  except the grey cardigan. So, today I decided to write more details in this blog. Printed Blue Cotton Dress. I made this printed blue dress in November 2019 using Jijaka print fabric that I bought during our trip to Singapore, I found it in the Spotlight store.   For the pattern, I used Burdastyle, hacked into a button-down dress with a v-neckline. Also, I added a final touch in the sleeves with a little vent finished with a button. I love this dress so much and wore it a lot after I finished it, but too bad I gained a few kilos and it didn't fit me. So, instead of giving this dress away, I decide...
