DIY Puff Sleeve Gingham Top With Ruffle Hem

Image
Happy Monday, friends. I made a new summer top using gingham fabric and a self-drafted pattern. The top is simple, featuring puff sleeves, a round neckline, and a ruffled hem. I decided to make it to fill a gap in my summer wardrobe. The fabric is cotton, which is perfect for wearing in our humid and hot summer. This picture was taken yesterday, and we went for a Sunday walk at the mall. I wore the top with my old and trusted denim pants.  I bought this gingham cotton fabric as a souvenir from our trip to Singapore last year and I'm happy I finally made a top with it. And I still have enough leftover to make another top. The pattern was self-drafted and I made two tops using the same pattern before.  The front bodice with darts and the back does not have a dart for comfort.  The sewing process was fast and enjoyable. I sewed the darts on the front bodice. And then, I clipped and sewed the zipper on the back bodice pi...

MAGAM Challenge: Finished March Garment - Vogue 8228

Image
Hello everyone, This is my finished garment for March -  Magam Challenge . As I mentioned on my last post, this dress is based on Vogue 8228 view A and for the fabric I used strong blue linen from my stash, but it looks lighter in the picture than it is in reality. Dress descriptions: A straight, semi-fitted dress, mid-knee has princess seams, cut in armholes, center front slit and back zipper. Sewing process: As this is my first experience of working with vogue pattern, I decided to make a muslin first. I choose petite size 10 (according to the Vogue size) but after my muslin done, I realized that my size should be 6. Then I work again in another muslin with size 6. Even so I have to make some adjustments, added 1.5 cm taller on the neckline reduced the length of the neck slit 3 cm and skirt front slit 6 cm reduced the side dress front and back 1.5 cm and make sway back adjustment Here is my second muslin based on petite size 6 with adjustment,...

Sewing Plans

Image
Hello everyone! Today post is about March sewing plan for magam challenge , and some more sewing stuff that I want to make on the next couple days. For magam challenge, I am going to make a dress based on Vogue 8228. Many months ago, a friend gave me four Vogue patterns and I think is time for me to give one of the pattern a try. I never worked with Vogue pattern before, so I hope I am lucky and my dress will turn out as the pattern envelope :-) And for the fabric, I will use my strong blue linen ( the fabric suggestion is light-weight linen, so I think my fabric choice is excellent). Speaking about the fabric, in the beginning of Magam challenge I am planning to make Burdastyle jacket with this fabric. I have done the jacket muslin but I do not like the style so much. Then I give up and I put the fabric back to stash. I hope I will make the dress with this fabric, so there is no reason for it to go back to the stash again, eheheh...
