Hi there, I finally took pictures of the finished shacket that I was working since November last year. The idea of making this shacket was to fill a gap in my winter wardrobe, I will use it as a layer to keep me warm. The winter in Macau is mild most of the time and this shacket will get a lot of wear.
For the fabric, I used linen blend in grey, I bought it from the local shop and it was in my stash for two years. And for the pattern, I used Burdastyle jacket 107 09/2023 size 38. This is my second version of the pattern.
As usual, the process started by sewing the front and back pieces together.
I fused a fusible interfacing on one side of the placket, pin and sew to the center front, I did it on both sides.
I pinned and sewed the collar and the collar stand together. And then, pinned and sewed to the neckline. As shown below, in a clockwise direction.
In a clockwise direction, I pinned the remaining plackets and sewed them.
Pinned the remaining collar to the neckline, basted and sewed it.
I was happy with the result, a neat collar 😍
I prepared the pockets by pressing them at the seam allowances before pinning and sewing. This method was made my process smoother.
I sewed the sleeve pieces together, pinned and sewed them to the armholes.
I made the sleeve slit and then pinned the cuff after that, as shown in a clockwise direction below.
I sewed the cuff, folded the cuff right sides together, pinned and sewed both lines along the slit.
Turned the cuff inside out, pinned and sewed. As shown below in a clockwise direction.
I sewed the buttonholes using automatic buttonholes and sewed the buttons by hand.
I was happy with the final result and I will wear this shacket daily.
And in case you are interested in seeing the process of making this shacket, especially how I sew the collar with stand, you can visit my YouTube channel, link here or click the video below,
