DIY Batik Shirt - Ottobre Design Pattern

Image
Hi there, I'm back from our summer holiday in Bangkok and we had a great time. I hope your summer holiday was enjoyable. As usual, I made new dresses for the holiday but will show you the dresses later. For now, I will show you a batik shirt I made for my husband. The shirt was his birthday present and I was glad he loved it. He got the batik from my mom last year, a typical Indonesian batik with a combination of black and brown. For the pattern, I used Ottobre Design Four Fellows shirt, size 54. I made this pattern before in a short sleeve and this time I made the hemline straight. After I cut all the pieces and fused the interfacing on the collar pieces, I started working on the shirt according to the usual manner. It was an enjoyable process, especially since cotton fabric was easy to work with. The only tricky one was sewing the collar and attaching it to the neckline. I did a lot of pinning and basting to get a neat result. I uploaded a video of the making of this shirt and al

Recreated Ferragamo Dress | DIY Denim Dress With Godets.

Hi there, happy weekend 🌺🌺
I recreated Ferragamo dress for my late entry to Sew Recreate The Look challenge on Instagram and I'm happy with the final dress.
Recreating it was a challenge, but I'm glad I managed to make it.
For the pattern, I used my self-drafted slip dress with princess seams. And then I added godets to match the satin inlay style on the original Ferragamo dress.

For the fabric, I used denim in dark grey from my stash and cotton poplin leftover for the godets.
The sewing process started with cutting the fabric, the straps, and the godets in triangles.
I overlocked the raw edges of the godets and sewed the hem allowance 1 cm.

And then I sewed the front and back pieces together. Remember to unstitch 36 cm to insert the godets later.

After that, I sewed the front facing and inserted the straps between the facing and the front dress.

Also sewed the facing on the back dress, and left 2 cm open to insert the straps later.

I pinned and sewed the godets carefully.
And then, hand sewed the upper godet for a neat and clean look.

I inserted the straps at the back dress.
And pinned and top stitched the facing to the dress.

The last part was pinned and sewed the hemline. Done! 😍

I posted a video on my YouTube channel for the details on making this dress. Feel free to pop over 🥰

And here are more pictures of the finished dress, front, side and back views.

I love the fit. It's just right, not too tight or too loose 😍
