Simple And Classy Dress With Removable Bow

Image
Hi there. Today's post is about a simple and classy dress with a removable bow. I made this dress last week for the annual dinner at my husband's work.  I remembered I had two yards of cotton blend fabric with elastane in my stash, so I didn't need to buy new fabric.  For the design, I chose a simple dress with a little bit of something like a bow or a flower. And in the end, I chose a silk bow. For the pattern, I used my self-drafted dress with long sleeves. At first, I was making a midi length but cut it below my knee. The sewing process was fast because of the simple design, I did it in two days.  The process started in a usual manner, I sewed the darts, sewed the invisible zipper, sewed the front and back dress together, attached the sleeves, etc. I tried on the dress and found out the neckline was a bit gaping and the dress was too loose and too long. So, I reduced the shoulder line by 1 cm on both sides before attaching the facing.

Burda Style Pleated Blouse

Look what I made on last weekend! a new pleated blouse from Burda Style 04/2013 issue , a very airy blouse that is perfect for summer. And I think this blouse will match well with jeans, pencil pants or even shorts. Yeah.. the type of blouse that suits my everyday life without feeling stuffy:)

Here are the details of this blouse,
Pattern:
I used pleated blouse pattern from burda style magazine 04/2013 issue, size 36. I did not make any alterations, I just copy the pattern to the transparent paper, transfer the pattern to the fabric, cut it and sew it according to the patterns instructions. Believe me, this is the easiest and fastest project that I ever worked.

Materials:
I used 2 yards of light weight polka dot cotton, but I still have left over fabric that I can use to make a scarf or another small project. And same color thread.

And here are more pictures of me and my dress form wearing the blouse,

As this project is very easy and fast to make, I will definitely make another one with different fabric and color.
Are you interested in this blouse and wanting to make one for yourself? If the answer is yes, I'd love to see your version:)

Happy Sewing!
