Refashion A Scarf Into A Tunic

Hi there, welcome back 🌸 I refashioned my old scarf into a cozy tunic and love how it turned out. I planned to do this many months ago and glad I finally did it.  This tunic can be worn as a layer or as it is. It is so comfy and warm, perfect for the cooler weather we are having now.  The material of my scarf is a wool blend in a lovely print. I got it from a friend 15 years ago. The refashioning process was easy and fast, I started with making the neckline. Cut the length and use the leftover fabric for the neckband. I pinned and sewed the neckband to the neckline. And here is the look of the neckline on the wrong side. I got a little problem, the neckline was gaping and I reduced both sides by adding darts in both sides at the shoulder lines 0.50". And happy it worked, it fit nicely after adding the darts. After that, I measured 15'' from the hemline up to the armhole, pinned and sewed both sides. I...

Gathered Waist V-neck Dress

Hi there, as promised, here is the second dress I made to wear on my recent travels. It is a gathered-waist v-neck dress with puff sleeves. It is comfy but stylish and also perfect for hot weather.
I wore this dress the whole day, exploring the city. The rayon fabric was perfect, airy, and didn't make me sweat.

I bought the printed rayon fabric from the local shop and it had been inside my stash for years. So, I was glad I finally made it into a dress.
And I used my self-drafted pattern, I made a few dresses based on the same pattern. But this time, I added puff sleeves. 
The pattern had seven pieces ( front on fold x1, front lining on fold x1, back x2, back lining x2, sleeves x2, front skirt on fold x1, and back skirt x2).

The sewing process started with sewing the darts, sewing the front and back pieces together at the shoulder, both sides and the linings. After that, I pinned and sewed the bodice and lining together.


I gathered the sleeve and then attached and sewed it to the armhole, which I did on both sides.


I gathered the skirt pieces and then sewed them to the bodices. And sewed the invisible zipper, followed by sewing the sides and hems.

The dress was done, and I had a little problem: the neckline was too wide for my liking. So, I reduced 2 cm in the center front, pinned, and sewed it. Problem solved. The neckline was better, and I was happy with it.

I wore the dress in hot Singapore weather all day and felt comfortable. I was glad to visit the Spotlight store and People's Park fabric shops. There were so many beautiful fabrics to choose from, and my husband helped me to choose. I bought four pieces for souvenirs. And also, bought Burdastyle and knitting magazines in Kinokuniya.
