DIY V-neck Tiered Dress

Image
Hello, I made three dresses to wear on my trip to Bangkok during the Easter holiday and this dress is the first one I made. I will share another two in the next posts.  I started working on this dress two weeks before the trip and I'm glad I managed to finish it on time, as well as my other dresses.  This dress was fun and relaxing to sew because I made one before in a midi length, so this time I shortened the length until my knee and sewed it easily. For the fabric, I used a printed rayon from my stash and white cotton lining leftover from my previous make. For the pattern, I used my self-drafted pattern. At first, I didn't want to add the lining but I had to because the fabric was a bit transparent, the lining fabric wasn't enough and I connected the pieces to make the back skirt. Here is the look of the fabric after cutting and the skirt was pieces of a rectangle: the first tiers - front and back, the last tier on the fold ( I forgot to take the p

Men's Shirt

I made this shirt especially for my husband Jose, a formal short sleeve shirt for him to wear at work. I used 100% cotton with light stripes. It was a little bit more challenging than what I thought to work with a men's shirt, but anyway I have done it nicely and I am very happy with my work. Here are all the details of my project: Style: A formal short sleeve shirt with left side pocket and flatter hem line instead of hanging like a deflated balloon. Materials: 1.5 yards of 100% white cotton with dark brown stripes, 7 pieces of button, fusible interfacing for the collar and same color thread. Pattern: I copied his old shirt size 17 as a pattern. I cut the old shirt and iron the pieces. After I have done all the pieces, I put them on the top of the paper and draw it one by one. It's very easy, right? And then I added 1.5 cm for the seam allowance and 4 cm for the hem allowance. How I worked: The total time for this project was 24 hours, including copying

More than one and a half months I didn't write a post in this blog. A little bit late but I wish you a very happy and warm new year, full of joy, happiness and success. I enjoyed my holiday season with my family and friends. Christmas is always full of surprises and new year is always a great moment.   And now, I want to share my new project that I worked for so long. I have done my first coat one week after new year. I was a little bit scared to work with coat, but anyway...YES! I made it:)   Here are the details about this coat:   Style: Knee length double breasted buttons closure coat. I kept the style very simple, there is no pocket or belt. I inspired by magazine and street people.   Materials: I used 2.5 yards of tweed wool blend in dark blue color, 2.5 yards of silk crepe de chine in dark blue color for lining, fusible interfacing for the collar, handmade shoulder pads, 10 pieces big black buttons and same colour thread.   Patterns: I used th
